https://nypost.com/2018/06/14/fbi-director-inspector-generals-report-proves-no-political-bias/ And FBI Director Chris Wray (appointed by Trump after he fired Comey concurs FBI Director Christopher Wray on Thursday said the Justice Department’s inspector general’s report exonerates the bureau from charges of political bias. “This report did not find any evidence of political bias or improper considerations actually impacting the investigation under review,” Wray said. “Nothing in this report impugns the integrity of our workforce as a whole or the FBI as an institution.” And yet the Trumpers are trotting out talking heads lying about this and claiming the opposite
Did not find is not the same as did not exist. I watched Director Wray. He said it did not impugn the integrity of his workforce as a whole, but he was clearly embarrassed and upset by the activities of that small number of FBI agents who exhibited clear bias. He repeatedly said they would be dealt with and everyone in the FBI was going to go through a training session emphasizing the expected behavior of the FBI.
The executive summary does not reflect much of the body. There was clear bias by some top echelon players. Five have been recommended for discipline. That in itself is damning. Unfortunately for the FBI this places a burden on the honorable rank and file.
There is something seriously wrong when the President of the United State, Republican lawmakers, and a major cable network is attacking the FBI, a proud, competent, and effective law enforcement agency that other nations could only dream about when it comes professionalism and efficacy. The President should be an admirer of this organization. Instead, he is the lead antagonist. Trump's antagonism, along with that of Republican Senators and representatives and Fox News is based entirely on an arrogant FBI director and five agents facing administration review and likely termination. The former is one James Comey whose actions the I.G. described as "extraordinary and insubordinate." Comey was fired over a year ago by Trump because of the Russian investigation he was conducting. One of the five agents is Peter Strzok who was removed by Mueller from his post a year ago. There are 35,000 agents in the FBI. Trump, Republicans, and Fox are still talking about Comey and the lovesick agent, Strzok. They are attacking the FBI based largely on the actions of these agents. The obsession borders on paranoia. Yesterday, Trump held an impromptu question-and-answer session after appearing on Fox & Friends, the reverently pro-Trump morning show which conducted its broadcast from the North Lawn of the White House. Trump said the report had shown the FBI was biased against him “at the top level” and was “plotting against my election." He added: “I’m actually proud because I beat the Clinton dynasty, I beat the Bush dynasty. Now, I guess, hopefully I’m in the process of beating very dishonest intelligence (meaning FBI). I have the real FBI. Not the scum on top, not Comey and that group of people.” Trump seems to have forgotten that he fired Comey over a year ago. The "scum on top" would include Republican Chris Wray who Trump appointed as his FBI director. Wray assumed the duties of director nine months ago. Trump's son and his lawyer were on Fox News, setting up the Trump's narrative. Donald Trump Jr. said the FBI’s “credibility is shot,” and Rudy Giuliani said the IG report could “blow up” Robert Mueller’s investigation by tarnishing FBI officials and key witnesses. Multiple Republican lawmakers argued that Strzok’s involvement in the early days of the Trump-Russia investigation, and the few weeks he spent on Mueller’s team, call the whole operation into question. Majority Whip Steve Scalise said the latest “evidence of bias” gives “credence to people who wonder if this is becoming a witch hunt.” Representative Mark Meadows declared “the Mueller investigation must be reassessed in light of today’s information.” Other Republicans joining this looney tunes debacle would include Mark Gaetz, Andy Biggs, John Ratcliffe, and, of course, Trump's loyal lapdog, Devin Nunes. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligence...ler-exit-over-report-that-isnt-about-him.html In a way what makes this worse is why these politicians want to destroy the effectiveness of the FBI. For the most part, politicians do exactly what their constituents want them to do. In this case the constituents would include approximately 60 to 65 million Americans who want the FBI destroyed along with the investigation by the special prosecutor. In a recent poll, voters were asked if the FBI was biased against the Trump administration. 31% said yes. Why do 31% of American voters, approximately 60 to 65 million Americans, want to destroy the preeminent law enforcement agency in our country? There are two possible answers. They are anarchists and they support Trump. They want chaos at the highest levels of our government. It is why they voted for Trump in the first place, and they support Trump today. There is something very wrong in our land, very wrong, indeed.
I can't speak for the other 59,999,999 to 64,999,999 voters, but I don't want to destroy it. I want it to work like it is supposed to. Where there is not even a hint of bias. Indeed there is, but it is not all on this side of the aisle.
Wray is a weak-kneed nerd and proved it with his news conference. Those who exhibited bias should be fired, period. Do it yesterday! And if there is no other bias by others why the need for training? He tried to sound like he was on top of the issue but he's too soft to take decisive action. He's no better then a PC bureaucrat.
What part of that is difficult to understand. Just because something is not found does not mean it does not exist. Given that Strzok was in a supervisory position, it is hard to see how he would not have an influence. The rest was what Wray said in his briefing..
There are 35,000 FBI agents. There was one renegade FBI director who violated protocol and exceeded his authority. There are five FBI agents, including a really stupid, lovesick agent, who are facing dismissal. You might want to cut the FBI some slack. Mueller removed Strzok from his post soon after he became the special prosecutor, and right after he found out about the texts. That was a year ago. I can't believe the President and members of Congress are still talking about Strzok and his girlfriend.
The FBI director has directed training for all 35,000 agents, if he believed that he only had problems with five agents, he would have dismissed or trained only those five agents and saved an lot of time and money.
They're asking because one of Strzok responses to his girlfriends "he won't get elected, right" text was "No, we'll stop him". That particular response from Strzok had been removed by the DOJ from the batch of text messages they had originally sent to Congress. Given that little fact, maybe now you can appreciate their concern ... where's yours?
It is also likely that they did not examine the performance of all 35,000 agents with the same intensity as those five agents.
They discovered and documented political bias. The question is only how much and how much effect it had.
They aren't. The IG found all kinds of bias. He said that there was no evidence that the bias entered into the activites of the biased ones. Apparently the IG's aren't allowed to state the obvious without specific evidence.
Things will get increasingly insane as Mueller precedes with the investigation. Trump, Inc. is scared.
Of course you are relying on those who have not read the report. It is full of bias and is pretty damning.
That's exactly right ... now its up to the DOJ ... you know ... the very people this damning report was written about. The DOJ now gets to conduct an impartial investigation of itself, then determine who in the DOJ to prosecute ... what could go wrong.
Right. I haven't found little green men living in my cupboard...but I'm pretty sure there are none there...
But.......exhibiting bias in a text does not equate to compromising the integrity of the investigation..........as noted in the IG report.
