He was wrong. At least it would debunk the lie that Social Security isn't a welfare program. If SS wasn't price limited at the taxation level and, better still, was means tested at the recipient level, we could stop calling it an entitlement program and start calling it a welfare program.

The Republicans prefer raising the retirement age, which would also work. When SS was passed, nine out of ten people were DEAD by age 65. There were sixteen people working for every person receiving SS. Now nine out of ten people are still alive at age 65, with just 2.5 people working for every person receiving SS. Far too many people think of SS as a retirement program rather than a welfare for the elderly poor program. To put SS back on a sustainable basis, the retirement age needs to be raised to 70 or perhaps even 75. Even at 75, 50% of the population is still alive. If you wanted to go back to the situation when SS started, you'd have to raise the retirement age to 85.

 

What I think should happen with Social security is a voucher system if I put away a certain amount of money into a retirement fund then I don't pay a dime into Social security. But that would affect a lot of people that vote for Democrats so you can't do that.

I will forever be mooched off of until there's nothing left.

 

Yeah, you're better off trying to provide for your own retirement, or better still, get rich yourself. I haven't worked in so long, I don't even know if I'll be eligible for SS.

Okay, I forgive her for her criticisms of Israel since she has criticized Saudi Arabia. But most of her quotes are rather squishy at best, like she condemned al Qaeda in one statement and in another complained that Americans say "al Qaeda" like it's a bad thing. She has defended the hijab as a symbol of "empowerment" when throughout the Middle East, it's a sign of female oppression. Generally speaking, those who are critical of Israel are unrepentant anti-Semites, a strange view to hold if you don't want Jews living in your own country. I'm guessing the Muslims were a lot happier when the Jews were oppressed minorities living in Muslim countries than they are with Jews living as a free people in a Jewish state.

Say who? You? There are millions of Muslims living in the US. Do they bother Jews that are living here? Synagogues and Mosques here are attacked by white extremists.

 

Generally speaking (as generalizations tend to do), anti-Muslims have a good reason to oppose Muslims while anti-Semites don't have a good reason to oppose Jews. Muslims are at war with the non-Muslim world, especially Israel and the West, but also including the Hindu world, the Buddhist world, etc. Jews are not.

And white extremists are as bad as Muslims when they engage in terrorist attacks. And yes, Muslims living in the US bother Jews that are living here.

I lost whatever sympathy I had for the Palestinians after the revelation that the millions of dollars and thousands of pounds of concrete sent to the Palestinians were used to build "terror tunnels" into Israel instead of housing for their people. **** 'em all now, I don't give a ****. Israel can do what it wants in its efforts to defend itself.
