The statement by Guatamala's foreign minister is proof that, under Obama, the world knows we have open borders and a no-deport policy.

Are you attempting to contradict the esteemed and respected foreign minister of Guatamala?

We need to start prosecuting companies who hire illegals. That will have the greatest impact on the flow of illegals from Central and South America.

What facts did you think he was unaware of?

America does in fact have open borders and we do in fact have no-deport policies.

Fifty some odd million illegals with more coming every day + sanctuary cities are proof that 2/3's of Steve's statement was correct.

And since Obama did literally nothing to crack down on the border invasion or sanctuary cities during his reign that makes the other 1/3 correct as well.

Easy enough to show we do have a deport policy. Anyone can see we've deported many people over this prez terms.

    - - - Updated - - -

No, your claim we have no deport policy.
Perhpas the Guatemala prez, for you didn't give a link to show support of your claim. But I won't worry about what he did or didn't say.

If there is no deport policy, how are any immigrants being deported?
There has to be some policy to follow.
If we have open borders, why do we have border patrol?
So, no, his statement, cept maybe for the guatemala prez is false.
We also have laws about hiring immigrants, it's just hasn't been followed for 50 yrs or so.

:) Kelley"The Jaw" Anne was on TV this morning vilifying Castro for making all those poor desperate Cubans, with only 20 dollars in their pockets) flee to the US.
Seems THOSE immigrants NOW deserve sympathy.....in order to defend Trump's attack on Castro ;)

    ROFLMAO

It cracks me up when Republicans get upset and start ranting about problems created by Republicans.

Our current illegal immigration is a result of the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986 from the Reagan Administration. Republicans and Democrats alike acknowledge that fact and have known that immigration reform has been necessary for years.

Immigration reform legislation began in 2001 with bipartisan support (mostly Democrats with some Republicans) of the original Dream Act in the Senate that was part of a proposal to incrementally address the undocumented (illegal) immigrant population. Repeated attempts to obtain passage in the Senate under the Bush Administration because of filibusters and the inability to obtain 60 votes for cloture.

The Dream Act was picked up by Democrats in 2009 and after a year's worth of debate and modification, in December 2010 the Democratic controlled House passed their version of the Dream Act. The Senate version was blocked by a Republican filibuster again and went no where. In 2011 the GOP took control of the House of Representatives and opposed immigration reform and in 2014 the GOP took control of the Senate pretty much putting a nail in the coffin of immigration reform.

Comprehensive immigration reform, that Republicans have blocked since 2001, could have fixed the undocumented (illegal) immigration problem that is a result of Ronald Reagan's Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) of 1986.

So cry me a river Republicans because you created the problem, refused to fix the problem, and now the problem is biting you in the ass.

BTW - The wall doesn't prevent or even reduce the ability of people to enter the United States and becoming "undocumented" (illegal) aliens. Like those in the past they can just enter the country legally on a work visa or tourist visa and then stay after the visa expires. They can also be smuggled in through our existing border checkpoints because only a small percentage of vehicles can actually be searched by the Border Control because searching more would shut down the border.

Trump is also going to find out real fast that Congress only provides the funding and resources necessary to deport about 400,000 people a year. He's also going to find out that a significant percentage (I believe 40%) of undocumented (illegal) aliens qualify for legal immigration status under our current immigration laws. Additionally Trump can't ignore federal court orders related to the Constitutional protections that relate to immigration law enforcement.

I'm going to be laughing as Trump gets sued over and over for violations of the Constitution, the law, and federal court orders if he thinks he can ignore any of them in addressing our undocumented (illegal) immigration problem. He's going to soon find out that the estimated 27 years to address just the existing 11 million undocumented (illegal) alien problem is very REAL.

For all of those who don't see this as a problem, go live in a border town and see if your view changes?

Husband recently was in Corpus working a job. Almost every worker on the job had things stolen from their trucks (some more than once), rental condos and hotels were broken into. If it wasn't bolted down, it would be stolen. Even food from a refrigerator in a condo was stolen. Are these the types of people we should be welcoming into our country? Would you let them babysit your children?

Corpus Christi is civilized compared to the Rio Grande Valley. Half the billboards are in Spanish, here. Dale gas!

Oh I don't doubt that at all, which is even scarier. I would love to hear what some leftist would think after living there for more than a month. Many would change their stance on open borders.
