I'm an enthusiast of polite political discourse and debate. I understand that this is a tool by which people learn. Only by weighing both sides, rather than firmly accepting only one along party lines, does one grow intellectually. Sometime the truth is painful and sometime it's validating of ones beliefs, but either way, it's still an emotional maturation.
Be warned, by claiming to have been Republican you are now a new RINO target for the very people that likely pushed you away from the "New GOP". I am in much the same boat and have been called everything from a Libt@rd to traitor because I do not hump the Trump leg. Welcome and Good Luck.
I have voted both ways all my life depending on the man and not the party. Because of the events in the past several years it will be a long time before I vote republican again.
You just described a majority of Aussies Because we have mandatory voting (and good thing too otherwise no bugger would turn up!) We have become a country of "swinging" voters. Makes Pollies nervous - which is NEVER a bad thing!
I was a Republican for half of my adult life, now Independent. But trumpees don't believe me because I despise the man. If you aren't a trumpee, you're a traitor. it's ironic when you think about it. I won't vote for another Republican because of trumpees. I tend to be a fiscal conservative but the sickness they support means I vote Dem or Independent from now on. I was raised as a Catholic.
It's refreshing to hear you seek polite discussion. That is something I also strive to do but admit that I find it to be challenging at times. Welcome
Voting independently (based on the person, not the party) will get you despised by both parties... 'you've thrown your vote away' type BS. I fully support the idea of eliminating the Two Party system.... and voting independently is a step forward....
Good to hear you're a former pub, 'Pi. Can't understand how any sane person would want to be associated with that corrupt, incompetent political party...
