This has nothing to do with the question at hand "Is a zygote a living human".

It is interesting that you bring up twins though as this is one of the main arguments against the genetic perspective.

Of the 5 scientific perspectives on "when human life begins" Metabolic, Genetic, Embryological, Neurological, Ecological - only one puts the beginning at conception ( - do not confuse this with the claim that a living human exists - obviously though - a human can not exist prior to the beginning).

Not also that in order to "Prove" a human exists at conception - you must be able to refute the perspectives that contradict this claim. As per your previous post - asking questions like "if it is not human what is it" does not do this.

The Genetic perspective - while popular among the raging masses - has fallen out of favor among subject matter experts. One of the reasons for this is the "twinning" argument.

Twinning does not happen until after the initial zygote - single cell at conception. If one is to claim the soul or an individual human exists at this point .. how does one explain twinning. Can one soul split into two .. can one human split into two ? There are serious ontological problems that arise.

Regardless of the explanations one might put forward in defense of the Genetic perspective - while this may help to make a moral case - this is completely irrelevant to the legal argument.

The fact of the matter is that "Experts Disagree" ... the fact of the matter is that there is no consensus among subject matter experts with respect to the genetic perspective.

Making law on the basis of "Experts Disagree" = "we don't know" is an anathema to law and legal principle and the founding principles.

 

That was my explanation of why I brought it up. Simple.
