Hi. Yak = a strong man; and the second meaning is a domesticated bovid, an animal.

Maybe you wanted to say "Kak tam", which is actually in Russian. "How're things", "Howdy", something like that. Russian is different. So you instead say "Kvo stava?" which is exactly "What's up?" It's cool, thanks a lot.

In fact I maybe am. While my countrymen feel like drinking themselves to death with cheap vodka, listening to Turkish music and living life on autopilot.

Christian, but not Orthodox. Protestant. I have some Atheist in me though. I like to question things, not follow everything strictly. What feels right for me, you know?

Much obliged for the heart welcoming! Bless ye heart.

Hey. We do have something in common. Not few Bulgarians hate me since I usually don't fit with them and their life views. They keep me around because they need me for work, but besides that we part ways, ha.

Scoring goals, sipping insults to Sir Ferguson for not letting me play for Manchester United, you know, the usual. Nasty is usually equal with "less hypocrisy" so that's more than fine by me. Thank ye so very much!

I'm actually Bulgarian-Italian-Macedonian blood boyo. Was in Bulgaria, Italy, Schweiz, now back in Bulgaria. Taxes are cheaper here in de Old Wild West. Whatever works better, ye know. 10% income tax has it's advantages. And a few others Pros. Thank yo, mo chara.

Thank y'all for the pants warmin' comments. Appreciated.

    P.S.
Can't be more wrong than a turtle in a plastic box. I was actually greatly thrilled and was answering very thoroughly. Nice try though, Sherlock.

Well many thanks and all the best! I like Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, South Dakota and Wyoming. I'm in love with the Midwest basically. (Sorry East and West Coast).

Hi, I'm pretty straightforward... Things I like the most in this World:
    • The Bulgarian Black Sea, Bulgaria's most secluded beaches & Bulgarian cuisine, which is insanely delicious if prepared correctly
    • German language, German music & German beer
    • The American Midwest & Midwestern architecture
    • Historic Old West Towns
    • The Route 66 and the vastness of the West
    • The 2nd Amendment
    • Guns, ARs, Kimbers, STIs
    • Knives (Cold Steels, Benchmades, Busses, Swamp Rats)
    • HEMI motors, old Buicks and old Fleetwoods
    • Politics
    • Ralph Waldo Emerson, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and Nikola Tesla

I have been to Michurin, Burgas, Pomorie, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, Sveti Vlas, Varna, Godlen Sands, Albena but I don't have a car so I don't know many secluded beaches.
I like Bularian pork dishes and my wife loves shopska salata.
    I also speak German.

Don't know what Michurin is. Never heard of it. No such place on the Black Sea. Maybe it's in Turkey or something? Sveti Vlas is great. I go to the Planet Club if I want to celebrate something. Civilian guards, open Lounge with loud music, great beverages and atmosphere, it's on the beach. Drunks and trash get thrown out immediately, put in a black SUVs and driven far away. Golden Sands is near me, 10 km away from me to be more precise. Grew up on it. Secluded beaches, go near the Turkish border. Ahtopol. Ahtopol is the best place of them all. And Sozopol. For Romantic introverts.

Und nein. Ganz sicher nein! Shopska is so overrated! I never eat that simpleton's dish. I don't know how people like that. Try Katyk. If you're back home, I'll give you the recipe. Surprise your wife and she'll beg you for more. She'll bow in front of you like you're an African King ruling over Bushmens in the sub-Sahara.

Get some Strained Yoghurt. Garlic. Oregano. Powdered Red pepper (Paprika). Salt. Get some Bulgarian Cheese (standard Bulgarian Sirene, not Mozzarella or some other Italian nonsense). You should most certainly have that in Illinois, especially Chicago, if that's close to you. New York City most certainly. Even LA. Or check the bigger stores like 7/11. Mix all that and sprinkle the mixture with oregano. Put some tomato slices on the bottom if you'd wish.

Some people prefer roasted peppers as an addition to the whole thing. Mince that into very tiny pieces and mix it. Roasted peppers and red pepper go great together, believe me.

Some people even add a bit of Olive oil. You decide.

Instead of the Yoghurt you can also use Sheeps milk. Should not be for drinking though. Should be pretty thick, like a Yoghurt. Thick like a Mascarpone. And never get sweet or neutral Yogurt or Milk. Must be thick and a little salty/bitter on taste.

This is the thing I'll murder babies for. It's super light, super delicious, you can eat tons of it and want more. This very thing is the best thing in life after motor vehicles, revolvers and smartphones. The result (should be pretty thick so it can be formed into little meatballs):

For a drink, get some Bulgarian Cow Yoghurt 3%, mineral water and salt. Mix it. 50:50 the water and milk should be ratioed. Thickness like a... A bit more watery than a McDonalds chocoshake. Something like a Dairy drink. Personally, I put some fine caraway in it. It's a personal preference.

A big fat Pork chop and some Village style loaf. I can murder a 100 babies for all that.

Ahoy, Captain Crank! Thank ye very much for the hearty welcome!

Michurin is on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast very near to the Turkish border. I was there during the Soviet times. It was a camping tourist beach for Warsaw Pact people. Dancing bears, long queues for everything and a very friendly atmosphere. I think I was the only westerner the people ever saw! I loved it.
Sveti Vlas is OK but it not so easy for walking. Sunny Beach is more flat.
I don't like Golden Sands very much. Too crowded, high prices, and difficult to travel from without a taxi. I took a bus from Albena that only stopped in Golden Sands because I told him to stop. Normally, the buses do not stop but continue to Varna. Going back from Golden Sands was impossible with the bus. You MUST use the taxi and the driver tried to cheat us! It was a very angry moment! Even my wife shouted at the driver .... my wife never gets angry.
My wife is from Slovakia and I think the ingredients are similar in the Shopska.
    Yes, please!
If it is sheep's cheese then it is probably similar to Slovak "Bryndza".
I am not American. I don't live in the US.

You sure have hit the ground running, Bulgarica. You appear to be smart and interesting, especially when you say 'I like to question things', because in my recent experience, quite a few people obviously believe everything they hear without question. ;) Welcome.

    @Thingamabob
I just googled that "Michurin". It's the old name for Tsarevo. Never knew that, wow. Oh, not American? Swedish, Slovak or? I thought you were American, you know, most of them here are. Sorry 'bout that!

Merci vielmal, Cerberus! Well, let's jus' say life is full of morons and if you don't learn your way to move around them quickly and efficiently, there's no prosperity for us. I've learned not to engage with them, or try to destroy them. It's just too many of them.

Hello and welcome to this forum.
I look forward to hearing your views even if they conflict with mine. I fully believe that mature adults can express differing views pleasantly & with civility.
We're all here because we want to both learn, enjoy some free time & express our views.
I've been to Bulgaria long ago and found it to be a beautiful country.

    Enjoy

    Delightful. Thank ye, Herr Grau.

    Aye! Yes, sir.

You should avoid at all costs Burgas and Sofia and the Turkish areas around Kardzhali and Sliven.

You should visit the Balkan towns like Karlovo, Kalofer, Koprivshtitsa, Panagyurishte, Teteven, Troyan, also Smolyan and Shiroka Laka around the Rhodope Mountains, Velingrad is great in the winter and summer, it's a cozy small town surrounded by mountains, and so many others. Around the Black Sea you can go visit Sozopol, Sveti Vlas, Ahtopol. The Varna's sea garden is enormous. You need a whole day to walk through the whole park. Rasgrad is great if you like football. A small city but their football club is the best in the country, playing every year in UEFA and the Champions League. Borovets or Ribaritsa for skiing, you know. You need time to see it all, because you're gonna miss.

Personally I don't like the mountains. I was born on the sea, lived almost all my life on the sea so my scales will always tilt to this side.
