You clearly have no idea of how that went down or how many lookouts where involved, the entire area was under surveillance by both the Cuban's and the feds, we knew they where coming and they understood that and where ready to respond as needed.

We where invited into the home by the family, there where 3 of us in the room at the time, Allen Diaz from AP (who shot that photo), Harold Rosado a video guy from WSVN, which was an NBC affiliate at the time and myself for WPLG, and yes the firearms where loaded and yes the Border Patrol agents where very serious, yet quite professional, they never interfered, nor stopped us from doing our jobs and we at gunpoint gave them lots of room.

By the way Diaz was awarded a Pulitzer for that photo of Jim Goldman Assistant Director Miami INS and I believe Rosado was also awarded a Pulitzer for his package on the incident, in the end I only got paid and paid well, but no Pulitzer.

It was most certainly not staged and that has been documented by many.

And? Obama did plenty of that. Dishonest MSM got busted using pics of detained kids and blaming Trump and the pics were from his reign.

You are insulting your own intelligence. It wasn't staged and it wasn't a soldier. He was one of 30 federal agents. I mean, cmon, 30 agents to get one kid?

"Armed with automatic weapons and firing occasional rounds of tear gas, federal agents seized Elian Gonzalez from the home of his Miami relatives before dawn Saturday.

About 30 agents arrived at the home in white vans shortly after 5 a.m. and used rams on the chain-link fence and on the front door. A short time later, a woman brought Elian out of the home and put him in a van that drove away.

Some of the approximately 100 protesters gathered at the home climbed over barricades to try to stop the agents. The agents, wearing Immigration and Naturalization Service shirts, shouted, "Everybody move out of the way. Everybody get out of the way.""

Trump's "this was Obama's policy too" argument is what's dishonest. Those pics you are referring to are mostly of kids who arrived unaccompanied and applied for asylum, not kids we separated. They also weren't detained for months on end. The only family separations of asylum seekers under Obama were in cases where abuse was suspected. Shame on the media for using the wrong images, but shame on Trump for lying about other Presidents doing the same thing just to dupe his gullible followers.

You can keep your head in the sand all day long but it doesn't change a what is a known fact.

Sadly it would take you all of twenty seconds to confirm that photograph wasn't staged, but since you wish to remain in denial that's not happening.

No.. and the guns were not drawn for the kid, but rather for the adults in the house. So , you were there? What a memorable piece of history!

Thank you! It could be yours for $180K, comes with 800 river front acres and several adobes structures in comparable state of decay, and a great backstory. 005.JPG

Cerebus doesn't do research, he relies on his ability to spot bs based on his gut feelings and nothing else.

I am, however, grateful for the insight into what happened as I (like Cerberus) live in the UK where the photo is not well known and the circumstances surrounding it even less understood.

You didn't see the link from the Miami Herald? Do you really believe your posted idiocy or are you just trolling? Your insistence to troll and ignore facts presented to you with nonsensical ad hom arguments post makes you look childish and foolish.

Yes it was, I was sort of sleeping, on the floor in the corner of the room when it happened, my first thought was oh crap this is it, powered up my camcorder switched on the Ultra-Light and rolled tape.

Very surreal, looking down the barrel of a firearm through a viewfinder.

If it's a 'know fact' then tell me precisely how I can decide for myself, don't just keep dropping hints. If you can't then don't waste your time with any more posts.

You have already been presented with articles from two different papers and an eyewitness account, what more do you need?

    QUOTE="Montegriffo, post: 1069957018, member: 73993"]An education?[/QUOTE]

Probably not happening, some people simply cannot admit they where incorrect and no amount of logic or proof will get them to admit they have made a mistake.

The poster could simply type Elián González into a search and it will kick up numerous references to the incident and the poster wishes to ignore the AP photographer who shot that photo was awarded a Pulitzer in 2001 for that shot for breaking news, breaking news by rule, cannot be a staged shot.

    https://web.archive.org/web/20100213104741/http://www.ap.org/pages/about/pulitzer/diaz.html

Months of preparation got Miami photographer winning shot

    By TERRY SPENCER
    Associated Press Writer

MIAMI (AP) – Alan Diaz had been preparing for his Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph long before he heard the footsteps of federalagents running toward the house where Elian Gonzalez slept.

For months, the photojournalist had been talking to the Cuban boy's family and getting to know the house and its surroundings. Now, in the pre-dawn darkness last April 22, that preparation was about to pay off.

"It's going down," Diaz yelled as he grabbed his camera, which he'd placed beneath a towel to protect it from the early morning dew. He jumped the fence into the side yard of the Gonzalez family's Little Havana home, paused to set his shutter speed and strobe light and then ran through a door a family member had opened.

"Where's the boy?" he yelled in Spanish, as Elian's frantic relatives scurried around the living room. A man pushed Diaz toward the boy's bedroom, where he threw on the light. Elian wasn't there.

He pounded on the bedroom door across the hall, which Elian's aunt opened. Diaz could see 6-year-old Elian being held in the closet by Donato Dalrymple, who'd helped pull the boy from the Atlantic Ocean five months earlier.

Inside the room, Diaz took the photograph of a federal agent with an assault rifle confronting a screaming Elian and a stunned Dalrymple.

That photo won Diaz, 53, the Pulitzer for best spot news photograph of 2000. He will receive $7,500. It is the AP's 47th Pulitzer –19 for writing and 28 for photographs.

But instead no, one just keep ones head thoroughly planted in the sand repeating, it was staged, it was stage, I know it was staged, when the truth is quite the opposite.

Welcome. Ann is a hoot. I have decided that I self actualize and identify as a 25 yo Suma Cum Laude Graduate of Harvard Law. I demand my clerkship in the office of RBG. I'd like to edit her briefs....

I expect that there are many things that I should expect that I will be given. My entitlement knows no bounds...

He's exactly the same when it comes to science. Absolutely refuses to believe that NASA is anything but a huge con and resists all attempts to prove otherwise.
So keen to show that he's not gullible he falls for stupid conspiracy theories every time.

People go to jail for misdemeanors every day. Hell, I *almost* did for driving on a suspended because I forgot to pay a $10 (not a typo) ticket, but I guess I was contrite enough that the cop let me go with just another ticket. When you go to jail, you get separated from your kids, and if your spouse/baby-daddy/baby-mommy/other family is not available or willing to take them in, they go to foster care.

And perhaps more germane, jumping the border is only a misdemeanor the first time. Second and subsequent offenses are felonies.
