I'm writing a story about the Triads being oppressed by the CCP in Hong Kong

Good Idea, bad idea?


Hong Kong, ran by the Triads, a huge and powerful organised crime organisation...
(If I wrote it like this, it'll be a comedy)...
Then the CCP come in in 2020; and now it's up to the Triads, to save Hong Kong.

IDK.

 

I am of the opinion that a high percentage of people from Hong Kong or who have parents or grandparents from there are worried that their relatives and friends still in Hong Kong could end up in concentration camps being treated like the Falun Gong, Christians, political dissidents or the Uighurs have been treated....... so you have an exceptionally motivated group of people who would be the most likely readers for your project............ I think that you have got a winner here!

I feel this story needs to begin in history when HK was a British port pushing opium on to China for tea; and explain a need for the CCP to want to protect its own interests from imperalism;
Leaving HK to fall into the hands of the Triads who now push heroin, and being hunted by the CCP so are themselves suppressed and hunted by this regime in Beijing.

 

I am of the opinion that you shouldn't date your story to being 2021 or whatever.
