Some of the called in responses are absolutely depressing.

The debate will now move from closed door proceedings to public ones with many democrats calling for the entire discussion and ultimate resolution to be aired live.

Looks like trump is closer than ever to getting the star beside his name alongside Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton.

I am interested in seeing the evidence presented so that the moderates of this great nation can make an objective and non-partisan position on this matter.

So far, the "evidence" are a collective narrative of "concerns". It will be interesting to see if the DNC will have to pay for the air time because this cannot be allowed to be free campaign adds for democrats.... Let's see if democrats are actually for campaign finance adherence or not....

So far the evidence is he said she said. Even the President of the Ukraine said it never happened. Get 'em over hear as a witness.

This is more like Johnson then Clinton. Clinton had actual crimes...Johnson, like Trump is simply political because the majority party in the House wants to undo the election or in Johnson’s case his appointment

Too late for that. Coaching and intimidating witnesses what to say in the basement for two weeks or more have done irreparable damage to the whole process. No objective person will take a partisan show seriously. House will impeach simply because the democrats have the majority and they vote along the party lines. Senate will show them two fingers. You will probably have to assasinate orange man to stop him winning in 2020. I bet many TDS sufferers dteam of it. Good luck with that. By the way, dems turned the congress into a clown show. The world is laughing at you. Chinese in particular.

They were following house rules as set by republicans.

Both votes will likely be among party lines.
The voters will have the ultimate say.

The world has been laughing at us since trump was elected, I don't know why that would change now.

Important day for the US.... This was clearly in the cards when Pelosi opened the deposition phase, and now we are on to the public phase.

There are no valid excuses for what Trump did here, so I'm much more interested in watching the potential defensive strategy here..

I'm guessing it will follow the Mick Mulvaney School of International Kneebreaking rationale:

    SNIP
Karl: "But to be clear, what you just described is a quid-pro-quo: the funding will not flow unless you're getting an investigation into the Democratic server happened as well."

Mulvaney: "We do that all the time with foreign policy.

We impeach a President because a couple of unelected subordinate employees didn't like his foreign policy? Really?

Perhaps the Republicans will call Zelinsky to testify.............oh but then Schiff can veto any of the witnesses they want to call.

My favorite moment of the day so far was Scalise talking in front of a sign that read "37 days of Soviet Style impeachment inquiry"

Another Republican who doesn't know **** about history.... par for the course..

It’s strange all the people that were demanding it be public are now upset because it is public.
I wonder if they will still support ignoring subpoenas as this is a legal process.

    My guess is yes.

As Lindsey Graham said, the day [they] fail to answer that subpoena is the day that [they] are subject to impeachment.

This amounts to the loss of at least 10 Democratic seats in the House in 2020.

Explaining why they codified Stalinist methods depriving minority rights and due process to skeptical swing voters will be a bitch on campaign trail. Lest we forget broken campaign promises of independence and working across the aisle.

It will get exponentially worse when they vote for bogus articles of impeachment produced by this one sided hyperpartisan political circus.

No, numerous violations of law is the reason he is being impeached.
Just him being unfit for office is the only reason they need.

Remember, this is not an impeachment resolution but instead simply cover for the abuses to due process already happening and permission for more.

No...they were trying to follow a coherent foreign policy. The President was asking for a favor for himself and Putin, in exchange for aid already approved by Congress.

Maybe you don’t realize the administration administers. The funds went to Ukraine with nothing in return.

My lips are adrip with anticipatory desire. I just hope the alt-leftie malcontents fingers don't burn out and their heads explode before the election. I would miss all their manufactured drama.

His "foreign policy" should not include seeking campaign assistance from a foreign government in the form of an investigation against his domestic political rival while he simultaneously and unilaterally withholds hundreds of millions in military aid, a requested meeting, and a restoration of trade rights. Nor should his "foreign policy" include efforts to obstruct justice by attempting to hide, lie about, and universally demand absolute silence from his current and former employees.
