    No, that is TOTAL BS.

And, I don't just mean the ridiculous claim about Biden wanting "science" to follow him.

First of all, let's remember that government policy is made by government, NOT by science. Science is the study of our natural world. Policy decisions are political. What we HOPE is that science is one of the sources of advice on policy. Other advice comes from those who analyze cost, likelihood of successfully establishing the policy, the nature of likely opposition to policy, etc.

Next, what happened in this case is that the CDC messaging had been conflicting with Biden officials - conflicts on policy.

That is a serious issue. There are real problems if different agencies are projecting different policy. One can't expect the public to understand what policy to follow when there are multiple policies projected. And, that kind of conflict ends any possibility of any level of enforcement.

If what you are pointing to is that medicine is a combination of science and engineering, fine. Our solutions (medicines, vaccines, procedures, equipment, etc.) are the result of engineering. In fact, the exact method of effectiveness is not even always known.

But, what the CDC and other institutions of science have done concerning evaluating approaches to COVID is soundly based in science - as is their analysis of VAERS database cases, safety of COVID vaccines, rates of infection, etc.

Maybe you should describe the "this" that you think is so easy to see.

These people are quitting because Biden was trying to push his policy on them through the CDC. Instead of following the science, Biden wants the science to follow him.

    Again, that's just total BS.

Biden (and America) needs there to be one consistent policy message. And, that is the reason for Biden's move that centralized policy communication.

The findings of the CDC are independent of policy and are not impacted by this move. Those findings are fully available to all who want to know, just as they have been.

The departures also come as the administration has recently jumped ahead of the FDA’s reviews of booster shots, announcing that they might be available by the week of Sept. 20.

Simple.. Announce something and then demand the FDA accept it then claim it as "science"

Irrelevant, since Medicine is not and can never be Science.

Thank you for admitting Medicine is not Science.

If Medicine were Science, then the effectiveness would always be known in advance, and it would be effective on 100% of the people 100% of the time.

In order to be Science, it must be:

    1) Verifiable;
    2) Repeatable; and
    3) Universal.

Medicine is not a Science because the results can never be repeatable or universal.

Does every patient who gets a particular treatment get the same results? No, because Medicine is not repeatable or universal.

When and where in this Universe can you mix an acid with a base and not get water and a salt?

    Nowhere at no time.

Mixing an acid with a base produces water and a salt 100% of the time without fail. If I know the exact quantity of Hydrocholoric Acid and the exact quantity of Potassium Chloride, I can predict in advance exactly who much water, how much salt (in this case Potassium Chloride) and how much HCl or KaOH is left over (if any).

When I mix the two, my prediction will be proven to be true 100%. That is Science.

Because doctors are forbidden by ethics to make predictions, that should be your first clue Medicine is not Science.

No, this is still just plain totally false.

Biden's White House COVID Response Team is not replacing or overriding or otherwise subverting science in any way.

The change came because there are serious reasons for having one voice on POLICY.

As mentioned before, policy is NOT some direct result of science. Policy decisions are made in the context of input from a variety of sources. Science is one of those sources of input. There is NO CHANGE to that.

The membership of the White House COVID Response Team is clear proof that there is no move to subvert science in ANY WAY.

I think you just claimed that there is essentially zero science going on today in ANY field.

It means that there is no science in cosmology, much of physics that is of interest, climatology, etc.

Almost all of science today includes an element of statistics as a key tool, as there is no other way to deal with the volumes of data produced. Plus finding a published paper that includes no error bars is probably not even possible.

I don't disagree with your 3 key points.

But, you have to be more circumspect in how you apply them.

As I understand it, the second departure was of an individual who has been working on similar infectious disease problems in the CDC for 33 years and is now retiring. There is nothing about her retirement that would indicate dissatisfaction.

I'm not sure what your point is about the booster shot announcement.

It seems like a reasonably important announcement of what's coming and should be expected by people who are involved in myriad ways. For example, there are states, cities, companies, etc., making policy decisions which should probably recognize that boosters will be important and when they are likely to be available, and who will qualify. All the institutions that administer vaccines today need to be informed of this addition to their work load as well, so they can make rational planning.

So, what's your complaint about the announcement?

You have NO evidence of that.

And, you are now just spamming unsupportable nonsense.

LOL. So they didn't quit? They didn't give the reason they quit?

Look, this is not Quantum String Theory. Cooking uses scientific methodology and scientific principles.

Does that mean cooking is science?

Hell no. It just means cooking uses those things.

    Scientific methodology is:

    1) I have an hypothesis
    2) I design an experiment (or study) to test my hypothesis
    3) I conduct the experiment (or study)
    4) I observe/record the results
    5) I analyze the data
    6) I draw one or more conclusions

What distinguishes sciences from social sciences is the ability to predict and to repeat the experiment/study and reproduce the same results 100% of the time all the time.

Can you predict which soldiers will suffer Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and which ones won't?

No, and neither can anyone else, because psychology is a social science, not a science. Climatology, meteorology, geography, archeology, anthropology, sociology, psychiatry and medicine are all social sciences and not true sciences.

Just because doctors use chemicals and microscopes and the machine that goes ping, it doesn't make it a science.
