Another failure by President Blowhard. Remember how much he pointed to the trade deficit as evidence that America was losing? Well now we’re losing even more thanks to Trump! https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/06/us/politics/us-trade-deficit.html The article even points out that most economists don’t consider a trade deficit a sign of losing, but Trump would either have to admit that he is wrong (which he is too stupid to realize) or admit that he is losing the trade war. Either way, Trump is showing his true nature as a total loser.
I can imagine that Trumpettes will try to come in here and say that Trump is trying to correct the issue (much like they said after he failed to get wall funding and failed to get a NK deal). But at some point, you got to stop giving the man participation trophies for trying and start acknowledging that his policies are failing.
Yup. He's a dismal failure and a crook. He's "like a really smart person" who is extraordinarily stupid.
I don't understand why you can't understand! Before prices go up to to tariffs or shortages or for what ever reason, people have a tendency to buy more, to get in before the price increase. Posting something that just proves that is not informative. 90% of the pundits on TV said it was going to happen this way. Now if the tariffs are imposed future buying will be reduced. If the tariffs are not imposed less will be imported until the extra inventory is reduced. Trumps proposed tariffs just had this temp uptick that was expected. The same happened in China, Chinese buyers loaded up on American agricultural products before their government tariffs went into effect.
You are correct about one of the reasons that the trade imbalance has increased, but I don't think trump knew that behavior was to be expected or else he would have said something about knowing that the trade deficit would get much worse before it got "better." And that is also because trump suffers from the fact that he is a ****ing moron when it comes to international trade. A large trade deficit is a sign that the American economy is doing very well and should be desirable. It is not a reason to institute a trade war that costs Americans ~3 billion a month in 2018.
