    Well, it’s more than likely that we’ll soon revisit an old debate.

    At an early stage of the pandemic, the 2017/2018 Flu season and Covid19’s mortality rates were exhaustively debated in several forums.

    For example, Thread title;

    “Covid-19 Mortality vs Regular Flu, Doing The Math!”....March 10, 2020

    All right, let’s fast-forward to Omicron;

    Question; In the U.S., what will be Omicron’s mortality rate, higher or lower than the Flu?

    Answer; In the U.S., we still don’t have enough data to determine Omicron’s mortality rate, and IMO, we’ll be able to figure out a near accurate rate by Mid February.

    Notes;

    1. January 11, 2021, the CDC announced
    “The Omicron Variant now makes up 98% of all new cases

    2. Two days ago, CDC; “Most reported Covid deaths in U.S., still from Delta.....”

    However, we will soon be able to figure out Omicron’s Infection-Hospitalization Ratio, and several weeks later, its mortality rate.

    In a 1-1 comparison, I'm sure the flu is deadlier then Omicron.
    But when 1% of the population contracts the flu(in a serious manner), and 1% of infected dying from the flu.
    That's very differant from 50% of the population contracting Omicron.
    And 1% dying from it.

    We will definitely have to compare a national average death rate, and here’s why;

    Worldlifeexpectancy.com
    Influenza and Pneumonia
    Death rate per 100,000 by State
    Age standardized

    State’s Highest; 22.6
    State’s Lowest; 5.3

    Thus, compared to Omicron, will the Flu be less deadly in many states?????

    In addition to the above,

    States Ranked By Age Adjusted Covid Deaths

    Source; bioinformaticscro.com

    1. Mississippi........378 deaths per 100,000
    2. Texas........334 deaths per 100,000

    However,

    States Ranked By Age Adjusted Influenza & Pneumonia Deaths;

    1. Mississippi........22.6 per 100,000
    33. Texas.......11.3 per 100,000

    Also, a Flu season can last as long as 8 months,
    whereas Omicron could last 4 months, or until a new Variant becomes the dominant strain.

    Thus, due to different time periods, we will also have to figure out the Flu and Omicron’s monthly average number of deaths.

    Next,

    Omicron’s fatality math could be very complex, especially if the CDC will keep us in the dark, for example;

    CDC Walensky “Among a few hospitals we’ve contacted, up to 40% of patients were hospitalized WITH Covid”

    IMO, “a few hospitals” AND “up to 40%” equates to garbage data.

    _________

    What we know;

    New Daily Cases, 98.4% Omicron

    New hospital admissions, predominantly Omicron

    Number of “Currently Hospitalized”, a mixed bag of Delta/Omicron

    Current number of daily deaths, predominantly Delta

    And after Omicron, likely a new dominant strain.

    Thus, without the help of the CDC, how one could dissect several Variant numbers?

    I also Googled/found the following headline;

    Wall Street Journal, Jan 03; “Omicron mortality rate is likely around 0.2%

    However, an opinion or a study? Not too sure.

    In reference to Omicron’s Infections/Hospitalizations Ratio;

    South African study; 80% less likely

    UK study 50% to 70% less likely

    Canadian study; 50% less likely

    US; 40% to 50% less likely?????

    Thus, expression; “Don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched”

    The CDC doesn’t report accurate data on influenza deaths. How can we ever use CDC data to compare Omicron to influenza?

    Agree with you what we have is garbage data. Probably won’t ever change unfortunately.

    Good point.

    Flu estimates and approximations VERSUS Covid’s estimates and approximations.

    The fact we’re even comparing them, means there is nothing to worry about anymore. We did NOT wear masks for Flu. We did not quarantine for Flu. We did not shut anything down for Flu. You got a fever, you stayed home, you ate some soup and drank tea and watched TV for a day or 2 and you were done. We did not panic over NOTHING!!!!

    There is so much power in panic. ANYONE in any power position in govt that is purposely trying to scare you into giving up rights even if it seems insignificant on the surface, can NOT be trusted anymore. And its all the more transparent when those same mutherfreakers don’t follow the advice they’re giving. It’s evil savagery.

    And anyone who profits from your fear should also be taken with a grain of salt. The sheeps clothing should be heavily scrutinized:)

    BTW, I’ve already been boosted as well as my whole family who could, but don’t think I’m doing another unless a new variant is turning people into zombies.
