As Liliana picks lice from the tangled, thick hair of her boyfriend, Patricio, while they sit together on the sidewalk of a Caracas street, she’s also multi-tasking, keeping a watchful eye on her “family.” When a 10-year-old girl named Danianyeliz kneels down to drink water from a puddle, Liliana reproaches her, urging her to have a sip from a juice bottle they’ve just found in a garbage bag.

At 16, Liliana has become the mother figure for a gang of Venezuelan children and young adults called the Chacao, named after the neighborhood they’ve claimed as their territory. thank goodness for the socialism of a mixed market economy over pure capitalism.

 

i'm a socialist, you aren't. socialism isn't the government doing things.

 

i don't mind a social safety net while learning how to use Capitalism, for All of its worth in modern times.

 

You can't use capitalism. Capitalism is something inhuman, unbelievably powerful, and completely unmotivated by human concerns despite the destruction it causes when it encounters us. Capitalism is more like a lovecraftian elder god than an animal you can tame.

 

In our Republic, Capitalism is contained within our form of Socialism. What could go wrong?

 

Our "socialism" (READ: welfare state) has been completely gutted by neoliberalism because capitalism devours all obstacles we throw up against it.

 

Lousy management, that is all.

And, our welfare-State is not the problem; it is our unenumerated warfare-State that is the fiscal problem.

 

There is a natural tendency for capitalism as an entity to devour all resources in a society that aren't dedicated to capital. As capital gets more powerful, you're swimming against a more and more powerful current. We cannot beat capitalism in a war of attrition.

we have entire legislatures and even A Congress for the Union.

Why not simply ask Academia for "off the shelf", fiscal plans for legislators to vote on, instead of making up forms of alleged capitalism, as they go along.

 

Because we've tried doing this ****ing means-tested technocratic bullshit and it doesn't work. We've been drifting in this direction, this idea that we can tweak capitalism and set it running to function for us, since the 80s. And it lead us to today.

 

It seems like many legislators of the People, are clueless and Causeless about economics.

 

They know what they're doing, they just have opposite interests from the majority of people.

 

This is so sad. The Venezuelan's were a proud people with a booming economy just like us in the U.S. not that long ago. Dressed nice, going to work and talking on their cell phones, living the good life and thanks to the left, this is what they've been reduced to. Now they live in poverty struggling from day to day to find enough to eat and basically now living in a third world country. This started when liberal progressive socialists took hold. After that happen they immediately removed the guns claiming it was because there was too much crime and shooting deaths...Sound familiar? Now the people have no way to fight the government that's keeping them oppressed and starving in the streets.

Feel really sorry for these people. Now guards in neighboring countries are guarding their borders to thwart a mass exodus from Venezuela into their land.

And this is what will happen here in America too if the left have anything to say about it. And when they do, if they can't remove the guns, they'll take the ammo instead.

 

Ahhhh, the joys of socialism.

 

Homelessness started when Democrats shut down mental health facilities in the early 70's. I remember when they shut down a big facility north of here. Most of the people that are homeless are not mentally stable enough to be reliable employees. Homelessness is not a failure of capitalism, it is a failure of liberalism.
