At least Trump has the functioning brain cells to be "loony". He's out working every day.

Biden is following doctor's orders which are directed at the weak and the frail, and can't string two coherent sentences together without a teleprompter or an ear bud.

And what one psychological personality factor would most likely drive anyone to think they are qualified to be the leader of the free world?

We replaced one narcissistic with an equal but opposite narcissist. Law of voting physics? ;)

We'll have to agree on the problem and disagree on the solution. :handshake:

~ Rand Paul would likely be a good president. I feel he may run with perhaps Nikki Haley ... ?

Perhaps. Haley is definitely positioning herself for a 2024 run. Paul may also run again, though there aren't any indications right now that he's considering it. The two could possibly end up together on ballot.

~ Competence in politics is highly overrated - as if it even matters these days. Ambition and outrageousness seem to be the qualifications. Good hair also counts .

Of course he's loony, he's talking hydroxy as a prophylactic, for heaven's sake.

He banned travel from China while his advisors were saying nothing to worry about and before Pelosi danced in Chinatown to critize his actions, for example.

Yeah well. It's still anecdotal, not scientific, but countries with high malaria continue to have far lower cases and deaths from Covid than countries which don't regularly take anti-malarial drugs.

And 400,000 got through in the next few weeks anyway. Thanks and good bye, Trump.

And so did all of Europe. Nobody could get in or out of the European Union and the natives were asked to stay inside (thus reducing the infection rate).

    Blah, blah, blah ...

Without an antiseptic there is no solution. And that solution is almost Mission Impossible with present technology.

Read the WHO report about SARS (linked here) that hit China in 2002/4. It will be the same for Covid-19 whenever it comes out - and it will be published.

Key quote from that link (prophylaxis means "preventing the growth of disease-causing microorganisms"):
No vaccine was ever found for SARS. May I suggest that the same will happen for Covid-19? And, so what's a country to do?

Just get over it and move on. BUT - let's get ready for "next time"!

    Howzat? Here's how:
*The only date on the WHO-website linked report above is 2012. I'd say that the WHO was "just waiting for Covid-19 to happen". Because it had no other alternative. And that is not a complaint, given that there were attempts to find a prophylactic-solution for SARS. None was ever found.
*But, the WHO sounding off the kettle-drums would have just made a lot of noise and nothing else. No country will believe the necessity of preventive-medicine until there is viable proof of its efficacy. And, of course, before that happens many, many people will have inevitably died.
*Wanna make a GIGABUCK? Find the vaccine-solution for Covid-19; but any based on the SARS-2002 virus is not the starting point. Covid-19 and SARS-2002 are not the same virus.

*Confused? Yes? So see the explanation given here: SARS-CoV-2 And COVID-19: What's The Difference?

    You have a better alternative?

Even so, the American people are quite unlikely to vote the presidency to a "nobody". Regardless of his/her credentials. (And yes, probably like you, I'd be very pleased to do so!)

As much as I would like very much to change the hairbrained manner in which we elect our Heads of state, I do not see that happening next November ...

No, there won't be an effective vaccine. Best we can hope for is an annual which changes "recipes" each year like the largely ineffective flu vaccine. Any Covid vaccine discovered this year, will take 2 years to produce and then distribute.

If there were a SARS family vaccine, China would have discovered it within the last 16 years. China's "bat lady" and the China lab have identified and experimented with dozens of SARS-type strains, capable of jumping from bats to other hosts, including humans, over many years.

Well, my alternative is to vote 3rd party, however narcissism is a fairly common trait in many successful people who rise to positions of power and wealth.

You made a point earlier about Trump's narcissism, as if that is a disqualifying factor. My response was merely a note that no one should be surprised by narcissistic personality disorder in the people who rise to the top.

Some 400,000 entered the US between the time China told the WHO about the virus and the time Trump executed his travel ban. In the two months since Trump's travel ban some 40,000 entered the US from China, overwhelmingly US citizens. I would advise you to get your facts straight before spouting off, but I'd just be banging my head against the wall.

Some were slow to restrict travel, notably France and Italy, who didn't want the world to think they were prejudiced and bigoted, let alone xenophobic.

Biden got the votes, older black voters picked Biden, that is what really won it for him

I still hold out some hope that Biden will drop out and Bernie can take the torch

What pulled Biden ahead was Obama's phone calls to Buttigieg and a couple other competitors to drop out just at the right time and for Warren to stay in a little too long.

not sure about that number, but it is true that Trump did not ban travel to or from China and many thousands traveled back and for after his ban on Chinese nationals as no one else was banned from travel

if Trump really thought it was a risk, he should have banned all travel and for returning Americans quarantined them until tested upon return

you will have to prove Obama made a phone call to them telling them to drop out

but agree, that was part of the problem, but people are free to drop out or stay in as long as they want

at least the left held a primary, the right forced Trump on the right

To waste my time clarifying, all states that help primaries held them for both Republican and Democrat. There are Republicans running in primaries against Trump.
