A couple weekends ago I was at a gun show and started to observe how the much the gender picture has changed over the last couple decades, what is changing in the market and in my own experience the trends I have observed.

There is no doubt gun ownership has increased significantly,

    http://townhall.com/columnists/celi...ership-is-up-77-since-2005-n1521739/page/full

Years ago you'd see the odd woman at a gun show usually along for the ride. But, at this gun show, I'd say 1 of four or five were women, some along for the ride, but the majority doing their own looking. They were there in two's and three's and even alone and we're young and old. The gun industry has responded, many guns are made with women in mind with smaller handle versions of many guns and in different colors. More choices of accessories like holsters specifically cut and designed for their needs are becoming increasingly available, including at that show, one holster company, woman owned specifically making both off the shelf and custom holsters for women and other products, designer shooting glasses, colored ear protection, and etc.

    http://www.offthegridnews.com/self-defense/female-gun-ownership-skyrockets/

Many women have more than one gun, one that I know, a single woman, living alone, has 9.

I have had a very significant increase in women coming for not only CCW training, but advanced courses. The two largest ranges near me not only have been increasing their product lines for women, but offer women only CCW courses and also have ladies night at the ranges which pack the range and spill out to the shop and the lounge...ladies training ladies and ladies talking to ladies about guns. Pretty amazing. I understand they have a sort of topperware type group that meets at various women's houses where they do women's gun fashions.

I have several close women friends that a just spent a couple evenings with me talking about the law and getting a bit of understanding gun safety, how guns work, etc. and later this week are going to the range for an introduction to shooting by my fiancée...all before they do their CCW class in a couple weeks.

More and more I see women in the gun shops and women catering to them behind the counter, though, my experience is also, most male owners are only too happy to help and exhibit the patience to answer their questions. But, I'm not sure the men can give as good of advice on bra holster fit and comfort as a woman.

It's not just self defense, but more are hunting. My 100-105lb house cleaning lady does both bow and gun hunting, taking 7 deer this last season. Got them out of the woods herself too.

I am guessing I am not the only one seeing this trend. I'd be interested in what others are observing As well.

I have seen similar results with the increase of women taking my firearm safety classes and my CCW classes. Also I've seen an explosion of women participation in the shooting sports.

Only in science-fiction do women wear miniskirts and miniguns, at the same time.

In the name of open and honest debate and discussion, there is indeed an accurate point being made. Firearms recognized as miniguns cannot be readily man-portable for use, and must instead be vehicle mounted, and supplied with an external power source in order to function.

I find some women quite a number of women dash the conventional stereotype. I've seen quite a few that learn trigger control quickly, exhibit exceptional gun safety, and become excellent shots. We have one petite young lady in her mid-20's that is holding her own here in the three gun event along side the men. My Financées teenage daughter has been learning, but one thing of note, she can pick of aspirins at 25 yards with an open sight 10-22 that I have and I can't even see them at that distance.

One thing I did notice is many women seem to enjoy learning, shooting, and even competing on the ladies nights...no pressure from men and there is a more of a sharing of things that work for men rather than men trying to train them in the mold of a man...we don't talk there language.

I get the impression that this is not your first betrothed. And you want to do this again? Ever hear of renting or leasing?

Women and blacks benefit most from concealed carry, but have the lowest rates of licensing. This is changing.

i have seen the same where I live. More women at gun shows, then I seen in the past. Seems to be more women at the range also. I think it a good thing, more women getting involved. Look at tv lots more outdoor shows ,catering to just women. Locally there is a woman that own a gun shop, and seems to do a pretty good business .

Few people open carry here in town, even though most can.

So there is no way to really know who is carrying and who isn't.

I see many attractive ladies old and young wearing camo hunting clothes at my office these days, so the huntin' women would be the most likely to be armed.

My state is open carry, but other than a few out to make 2A point, few do. To carry concealed means just that, you don't know and for the most part, considering that 1 in 14 have a permit there is a high likelihood guns are around in most any public place and some of those carried by women.

Just my opinion, but I think women do concealed as an art a bit better than me. Most men don't care about looking a few lbs heavier than they might be, so wearing shirts out, cargo pants, thick wallets, ankle holsters and etc, can easily be gotten away. Women on the other hand, want to look lbs less than they are, wear high heels, tight jeans, etc. So their fashion obsessions can make concealment a bit more challenging. While many do the convienment purse carry, there are companies making gun smaller, like some of the small.380's, even 9's, and even options like the light weight Ruger LCR and others making great concealment options, with fashion in mind. I am aware of a small woman owned company in my area that makes fairly tight custom jeans with compression holster panels that strategically tighten while preventing printing; they are expensive, but, hey, for fashion.

When I referred to the ladies only events with gun talk, etc., tips and discussions on how to conceal, what gun to buy for good concealment and looking good while carrying are probably as important as any other topic.

I still like the bumper sticker that says, I am a woman, armed, had a bad and and have PMS. Any questions? Who know, this trend with women and CCW may bring back male courtesy and chivalry...lives may depend on it...Lol

And you picked one with a teenage daughter at that. To quote a popular TV show, you're either unkillable or you're way overdue. ')

Speaking of sexy. I was at the County building a few years ago and saw a young, very shapely FBI female dressed in business dress, slacks and jacket, open carrying a firearm.

I saw an FBI worker (agent?) in my office last week, who was friendly, but looked more like Roseann Barr. Unsure if she was armed.

I'm for women having guns but I'm against making them "pretty". Guns should be black or stainless steel not pink

Well, if pink makes them easier for women to conceal, I think it's a good idea.
