A Muslim girl was tied to a tree and flogged mercilessly by a group of villagers in India’s Bihar state earlier this week for eloping with a Hindu boy.
The young girl, daughter of Mohammad Farid Ansari from southern Bihar’s Nawada district, had fallen in love with Rupesh Kumar, son of Arjun Rajvanshi, while both were studying in a local government school.
Reports said when the girl’s parents came to know about these affairs, they stopped her going to school and also warned against meeting the youth from other religion but she continued meeting the boy.
On September 30, she finally eloped with her boyfriend, much against the wishes of her family. After three days of extensive searches, she was recovered from a neighbouring village on Thursday although the boy fled the scene.
Subsequently, her family members brought the girl along to their Jogia-Maran village which was soon followed by a hurried-convened village court. The court found the matter too serious and ordered for thrashing the girl in public, witnesses said.
Soon the girl was tied to a tree and badly thrashed by local villagers until she fell unconscious. She remained tied for about five hours before the local police could reach the spot and rescued her.
“I love the boy and will marry him come what may. I am ready for any punishment,” she told the media.
She said she is an adult and can well decide about her future. “I don’t believe in castes or religions. I am 19-year-old and can well decide whom I should marry, whom I should not,” she asserted.
The girl’s father said he wanted to marry his daughter to a suitable boy from their own community but she slipped out of the home with some excuses when there was no power at night and ran away.
‘Love’ is still a taboo in conservative Bihar, and quite many who have defied the existing social order have paid with their lives, banished from their villages, imposed heavy fine or served other crude punishment.

It's going on all the time but seldom gets international publicity. You'll soon be accused of "Islamophobia" or "Racism" for exposing the ongoing human rights abuses in this religion, as you know. Cowardly leftists, and that's usually a given, and Muslims themselves, will find some sort of excuses for this. They'll likely start with a 'whatabout'.

A 17-year-old girl has been stoned to death in Iraq because she loved a teenage boy of the wrong religion.

As a horrifying video of the stoning went out on the Internet, the British arm of Amnesty International condemned the death of Du’a Khalil Aswad as "an abhorrent murder" and demanded that her killers be brought to justice.

Reports from Iraq said a local security force witnessed the incident, but did nothing to try to stop it. Now her boyfriend is in hiding in fear for his life.

Miss Aswad, a member of a minority Kurdish religious group called Yezidi, was condemned to death as an "honour killing" by other men in her family and hardline religious leaders because of her relationship with the Sunni Muslim boy.

They said she had shamed herself and her family when she failed to return home one night. Some reports suggested she had converted to Islam to be closer to her boyfriend.

Miss Aswad had taken shelter in the house of a Yezidi tribal leader in Bashika, a predominantly Kurdish town near the northern capital, Mosul.

A large crowd watched as eight or nine men stormed the house and dragged Miss Aswad into the street. There they hurled stones at her for half an hour until she was dead.

The stoning happened last month, but only came to light yesterday with the release of the Internet video.

It is feared her death has already triggered a retaliatory attack. Last week 23 Yezidi workmen were forced off a bus travelling from Mosulto Bashika by a group of Sunni gunmen and summarily shot dead.

An Amnesty International spokesman in London said they receive frequent reports of honour crimes from Iraq – particularly in the predominantly Kurdish north.

Most victims are women and girls who are considered by male relatives to have shamed their families by immoral behaviour.

Kurdish authorities have introduced reforms outlawing honour killings, but have failed to investigate them or prosecute suspects, added the Amnesty spokesman.

Kate Allen, the organisation’s UK director, said: "This young girl’s murder is truly abhorrent and her killers must be brought to justice.

"Unless the authorities respond vigorously to this and any other reports of crimes in the name of 'honour', we must fear for the future of women in Iraq."

It's horrific that such backwardness and ignorance still goes on today. Those who do not speak out against such atrocities must live in the same area code as those carrying out these attacks.

Meanwhile, the cowardly and ignorant will pretend that such disgraceful behaviour is somehow the exclusive preserve of one religion rather than of backward cultures.

They will also reproduce articles by far right extremists, Nazi apologists, liars and people of generally low character.

It's even worse in Africa - witchdoctors there routinely mutilate little girls' vaginas with blunted razor blades and without any anaesthetic. How barbaric is that?

So you spoke out about the 8 year old Muslim girl kidnapped, held in a Hindu temple, raped for a week within earshot of many in the village and then murdered? Local Hindus protested.....in support of the rapists/killers.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/24/world/asia/india-child-rape.html

And you must have started a thread to protest the ongoing sacrifice of children to Hindu gods in India - sadly a regular occurrence:

    https://www.scmp.com/week-asia/soci...-killer-godmen-and-their-sacrificial-children

Presumably you are so angry at Sikh honour killings that you have lost the ability to communicate.

    https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com...-India-claims-family/articleshow/55792275.cms

And as a Christian you are presumably working within your faith to end the murder and abuse of 'witches' in Africa, often at the hands of Christian communities.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witchcraft_accusations_against_children_in_Africa

Sadly religious & cultural prejudices are used to persecute people the world over. Even more sadly some people only become aware of such problems when their personal prejudices tell them it is worth bothering about. Such people are little better than those who approve of such actions.

Nobody in the article is stating that this was done in the name of Islam. According to her father "The girl’s father said he wanted to marry his daughter to a suitable boy from their own community but she slipped out of the home with some excuses when there was no power at night and ran away."

That's being disputed. ISIS claims she was stoned because of that. The locals claim she tried to run away with her Muslim boyfriend. But it's good to know you put your trust in ISIS propaganda for the sake to push your own agenda.

Is this the #MeToo I hear so much about?

Worse than animals, religion is irrelevant and no excuse.

Then why not post it in the religion section? Your personal axe to grind with Islam is hardly worthy of World News.

So like Kavanaugh then when one forum member who I won't name created over 20 threads in 1 week on Kavanaugh.

There were also 3 members that created over 10 threads each. There are excess of 200+ threads now mostly by a small group of people.

India's a ****ed up place it's too easy to place the blame on Islam, Hindu, or Sikh it's the human factor people are missing here.

Rural India does not have western standards and it will take time for these things to normalise.

There is no excuse but to blame any religion is too simplistic for human prejudices.

Kavanaugh was very much a political matter that had a lot of people thinking and discussing.

There's no comparing him or those making threads about him to this.

Yes there is, sad you've deliberately blinded yourself to be unable to see it.

    It's all politics especially religions.

No, they're too busy worrying about TRUE feminist causes, like how collectively they earn slightly less money than men given that they work less hours. What a surprise!

Name another religion which even comes close.

    Does religion not influence culture?
