I recall chopping off the nail to end of toe of my big toe on my left foot as a young boy. At first it did not hurt. A woman neighbor friend of Mom's kept asking me if it was hurting. I never figured out why but the more she asked, it did start to hurt. And hurt a lot. The hospital doctors managed to put the end of the toe on and fortunately for me, most of the nail is here. The lost part of the toe is about 3/8 of an inch I suppose. At the time, the toe was supposed to be healing but the end was rotting off. Anyway maybe some here can help this family.
