    7 X ~ $40K = ~ $280K in savings per year

    nothing to sneeze at.

Back to the topic of prisoners killing prisoners. I have severe difficulty feeling bad for prisoners killed by prisoners.

We do if we want a chance to actually rehabilitate anyone.

That seems to be the case in prisons.

The government can't keep cell phones out of prisons but they want us to think they can keep guns away from criminals outside of prisons.

as for the first point, as that is the only point of disagreement you advanced: depends what you mean by drug dealing. there's no violence in selling your neighbor a dime bag of pot or your spare xanax or even running a small heroin operation. many drugs are awful for people and shouldn't be pushed, but people have the right to use the substances they wish so i don't really see drug dealing as worse than regular capitalism. if you're thinking of cartel bosses and whatnot, those people are bloodsoaked maniacs and not just run of the mill dealers.

The term contraband mean anything to you?

Stop signs and speed limits are there to make drivers follow traffic laws, are they 100% effective? You know the answer.

So, the ban only affected those who chose to comply with it. Those who were law-abiding. It had no effect on those who chose to ignore the ban. They weren't disarmed. Only the law-abiding were disarmed.

I never thought that I would consider this but maybe it is time to adopt the Soviet Gulag system. Build real large prison complexes in the worst climate areas so that even if prisoners escape they die due to weather.

Or do we build hermetically sealed prisoner quarters so that if theybriot the guards move to safe rooms and hit the anesthesia gas button. Guards put on suits with sealed helmets and pick up the "dead wood" and throw them back into their cells.

Any dead prisoners go into the ditch outside the wall.

I was talking about the fact that rules and laws are not followed by everyone.

I do not believe in rehabilitation of prisoners. I believe that the death penalty is a preventative and way to remove bad DNA from the population.

Point being that just because a law or rule get circumvented or is ignored does that mean that we do away with that rule.? The answer is no!
