    thinking requires self and that is a commodity hard to come by in the modern world. spell-check is wonderful and the internet is invaluable if you want to know who starred in the remake of "the haunting", but it contains nothing original. the internet constantly looks backward. there is no self in the past, only the selves of myriad others and they mean nothing to the individual attempting to build their own self. of course, self is not as highly valued as it used to be. as our society marches toward collectivist mediocrity, self is becoming more of a vice than a virtue. the concept of "i am myself" is becoming meaningless.

    I was deep thinking long before I ever heard of google. Wish I'd bought some of their stock in the early days though I'd be rich now.
