    Woo-hoo! It's "International Women's Day", kids!

For children in Alexandria Public Schools, that means a day off while your Marxist teachers go out and talk about their dreams of blowing up the White House.

For the rest of us, it's a day to gaze at the antics of Leftist "activists". Catch the festivities live from the progs at The Guardian:

Now, if "International Women's Day" rings an odd Commie bell in your ear, your ears don't deceive you. Here's a little background on the founding of today's celebration:

    International Women's Day

International Women's Day (IWD), originally called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year.[2] It commemorates the struggle for women's rights.

The earliest Women's Day observance was held on February 28, 1909, in New York and organized by the Socialist Party of America.[3] On March 8, 1917, in the capital of Russian Empire, Petrograd, a demonstration of women textile workers began, covering the whole city. This was the beginning of the Russian Revolution.[4] Seven days later, the Emperor of Russia Nicholas IIabdicated and the provisional Government granted women the right to vote.[3] March 8 was declared a national holiday in theSoviet Russia in 1917. The day was predominantly celebrated by the socialist movement and communist countries until it was adopted in 1975 by the United Nations.

Gee, I wonder what bloc of Nations convinced the UN to adopt this socialist-communist celebration?

And little wonder women Right of Center are ignoring or laughing at this Leftist holiday. They're either going to work, looking after the kids who suddenly got a day off from school and otherwise going on with their lives. No doubt, the Trumpeteers amongst them will be rolling their eyes and chuckling before this day is over. Perhaps, today would be a good day to break out the old Trump-Pence sign and stick it in the yard again just for kicks.

Funny how socialist claim they will always get people to work, but petition the government to have so many holidays and days off of work.

Why all the drama - couldn't they just wear pink ribbons and ban high heels for a day?

Well, 100 years ago, many women in the world didn't even have the right to vote, so yeah, probably such a celebration was justified.

And between this day off, the days off they want for their menstrual cycles, and the 6 months off for maternity leave, and whatever else specialized holidays women want just for being a woman, they wonder why they SOMETIMES make less than men in the same career fields. Its because men typically work longer hours daily and don't take these ridiculous days off.

Odeh's a convicted Palestinian terrorist who managed to lie her way into our country and then get a job as an ObamaCare Navigator.

Some of us here in the states might be more familiar with former CPUSA big-wig and Black Pantherette Angela Davis:

Angela Yvonne Davis (born January 26, 1944) is an American political activist, academic scholar, and author. She emerged as a prominent counterculture activist and radical in the 1960s as a leader of the Communist Party USA, and had close relations with the Black Panther Party through her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. Her interests include prisoner rights; she co-founded Critical Resistance, an organization working to abolish the prison-industrial complex. She was a professor (now retired) at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in its History of Consciousness Department and a former director of the university's Feminist Studies department.[4]

Davis was prosecuted for conspiracy involving the 1970 armed take-over of a Marin County, California, courtroom, in which four persons were killed. She was acquitted in a federal trial.[5]

Her research interests are feminism, African-American studies, critical theory, Marxism, popular music, social consciousness, and the philosophy and history of punishment and prisons. Her membership in the Communist Party led to California Governor Ronald Reagan's request in 1969 to have her barred from teaching at any university in the State of California. During the 1980s, she was twice a candidate for Vice President on the Communist Party USA ticket.[6]

Do they even know why they're protesting? I mean, the company I work for is about 80% female. Most businesses have 50% or more of its employment as female working indoors. This protest is extremely contradicting and frankly, it's plum retarded. On top of that, we have people who educate our children take a day off and cause the kids to miss school. And you know they don't mind missing so once again, the left set a very terrible example.

Those who are doing this aren't smart enough to know better. My fiance took off the week before our baby was born, and came back after 2 weeks off, so she was off a total of 3 weeks and didn't miss one single day of work while pregnant before that.

Always seems like everybody, besides the Republican men and women, demand to be treated the same until they want to be treated different.

Wow. I guess if she was white and had close relations with white supremacy organizations equal to the Black Panthers and CPUSA then the left would be going crazy calling her a racist.

Nothing but a modern Gazi (global socialist) rally. Every time one of them mentions "men", just replace "men" with "Jews", re-read, and who they are will be made obvious.

International Progressive Women's Day would be more accurate in describing these "marches". But whatever....

You're right, but she's black and she had close relations with a black racist organization, so that makes her a leading voice on the Left and qualifies her for a high-paying job as a university professor in California.

One might consider her the black female version of William Ayers...

Gee, I wonder how you people manage to bring my country into every argument. Yes, gulty, people of Russia were ones of those who gave start to that event.

Also we are ones who celebrate it with gifts and flowers, while you folks having a female workers strike.

Sometimes I pretend I've clicked into an entirely different forum to see how the comments work out.

Today that imaginary forum is for disaffected gay boys who feel threatened by upfront and mouthy women, kind of like a room full of less attractive and eloquent Milos.

That is because originally worker unions - and socialist movement that formed partly from them - stood for humanly tolerable working conditions, adequate wages, social and health security if job, for example, included working with hazardous materials, and - yes - providement of free weekends when people can rest.
It was not about just work, it was about work in way human being can bear without crumbling into a broken wreck in early forties of their life.

Well, Ninian, things are like Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn once told us - your country is moving away from communism while ours is trying to move towards it.

PS. Do you recognize the man in my avatar? He'a another thing from your country.

Yeah, they wanted what the best companies in the free market already provided their employees with as incentives to switch places of employment. Unions took advantage of the massive low skilled, low educated workers pool to demand what others worked for to achieve.

Sadly, I do not. I think I've seen the woman that stands behind him, but I am not sure. I suspect it is a screen shot from one of our old films, and they are quite numerous - so even if it is from one of well known, chances high I have not seen it. Not yet, at least.
