Discussing Iran also is a dicussion of saudi arabia. Germany sees Saudi Arabia as the worst in the region. we even blocked selling arms to them.

There were not. At absolute most, they might have had a unit of SHORAD, and maybe a Battery of AVENGER. But that would be it. We have not had PATRIOT in Iraq in well over a decade.

 

The US does have patriot missiles in Iraq, although reportedly none around the Al Asad air base. (Some reports suggested the moved them from the Al Asad air base to near Baghdad to protect another US base and some assets there). In any case, the patriot missiles won't be able to intercept Iran's ballistic missiles and certainly not with any reliability. The only system that may be able to take out Iran's ballistic missiles is the Arrow 3 developed jointly by the US and Israel, but Israel's claims on the issue aren't verified or proven. We will know more about the accuracy of the claims regarding the Arrow 3 system one of these days.
