Iranian boats attempted to seize British tanker

So what should be the American and British and rest of the world response. Interference in international waters shipping is an act of war, attacking another countries vessels and attempting to sieze on the open seas is an act of war. Iran has been warned there would be reaction to any further attacks.

So what now?

Five armed Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps boats unsuccessfully tried to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf Wednesday, according to two US officials with direct knowledge of the incident.

The British Heritage tanker was sailing out of the Persian Gulf and was crossing into the Strait of Hormuz area when it was approached by the Iranian boats. The Iranians ordered the tanker to change course and stop in nearby Iranian territorial waters, according to the officials. A US aircraft was overhead and recorded video of the incident.
The UK's Royal Navy frigate HMS Montrose had been escorting the tanker from the rear. It trained its deck guns on the Iranians and gave them a verbal warning to back away, which they did. Montrose is equipped on the deck with 30 mm guns specifically designed to drive off small boats.

Guess the Brits are going to need to shift from zone to man to man.

Iran has threatened to retaliate for the British siezure of their tanker. I doubt this will be their only attempt. Of course, the America haters will claim that the British and Americans concocted the
whole incident in an effort to frame Iran!

 

Let the Brits handle it, and let the Democrats in the US whine and cry.

If they wanted to seize it, why did they back off? Were they unprepared or just playing around with the Brits?
And what if they had succeeded, what are they gonna do with the tanker, steal it and hide it in a sea cave?

 

They backed off because they realized they were going to be resisted. They were trying to force the tanker to steer into Iranian waters from international waters, so they could claim that it was violating
their territory. They would have taken it to Iran off course - then there would have been nothing the Brits could have done, and Iran would have had revenge for the siezure of their tanker taken by the
Brits carrying oil to Syria.

 

They backed off because the British Navy destroyer that was following the tanker pointed their 30mm cannons at them and told them they better, or else.

 

I think, if they are threatening British tankers, then the British should defend them, and just let us know if they need a hand, and what we can do to help.

 

We are allies in the region.

 

A couple of Hellfires could do the trick.

 

And Iran will continue to ramp up and threaten international waterways.

 

This game is dangerous, sooner or later one or the other is going to step on their dick and the situation will escalate.

 

I get that, and we have their back. I just think that the country whose asset is being attacked should lead the defense and decide the appropriate retaliation, if any.

 

We need to esalate until they stop. That's why i said destroy the bases where the boats operate from.

Oops! The war mongers are at it again. No mention that the Iranian government denied the charges - which bodes the question? Was the pirating of a tanker at Gibraltar a provocation to get Iran to respond?

I mean look, didn't we say the drone was in international waters and everyone believed it -except the Russians who say they have proof it wasn't, but so what? We tell people they're liars and people believe that too.
