Well, my personal answer is that capitalism is "dead" immediately after communism "died", meaning 1994, with NAFTA. But the author of this 2013 article writes many things that I agree with, nonetheless. Emphasis is mine - Enjoy!

Capitalism can't die. Who are the socialist going to take wealth from and redistribute it to their supporters? With out people perusing happiness, there won't be people who want to use government to make them equally miserable.

If you are saying that capitalism mutated, then I cannot agree more. In which phase of it we are moving in I don't know the exact nomenclature, but the capitalism of the "study and work hard and you'll get rich" kind is definitely over.

Socialism, too, have been a part of about every economical system in one appelation or another for a good 400 years. It's basically putting taxes money on public utilities rather than letting it rot in some lord's pocket - not the obscurantist bogeyman some made it to be. It's just that some system gravitate around it more than others.

Socialism, leftist still think it's a new idea. Hey guys.... I gotta crazy new idea nobody ever thought of before. Lets take everyone's money, put it in a big pile, and pass it out evenly to everyone. What could go wrong?

A "lord" and a "president" are the same. They are both government. The best place for money to sit, is in the pockets of the citizens.

    I don't know - you tell me.

I'll tell you the difference: One is an elected official people elected (in principle), while the other is a nepotist you'll have to bear. The earlier is supposed to make your life easier, the other one is there for himself at your expense.

I thought this very difference was what the USA were founded for in the first place.

Capitalism is the only economic system that truly understands human biology and evolution.
