I'm completely pro-police but at the same time pro-transparency to the point where I believe any police actions, within reason (not during evidence gathering and stuff) should be able to be recorded by anyone. Any time they're in public and there's no logical reason to protect whats' being done from being public information they should be able to be videotaped.

The same goes for politicians. :p

Wondering why the liberals are so reticent to uncover the Fast and Furious scandal that has now been linked to the White House. Also more FAF guns have shown up at another murder scene. This is the gift that keeps on giving.

I guy who craped his pants once was wondering why the left side of his pants is brown, but then another guy noticed that it's the right side that is brown. anyway, they both kept looking in the opposite directions because they did not want to look at the hole... same with all the kookoos blaming left and the right. this thread is not about that.

I haven't had that many jobs where the employers didn't engage in some sort of surveillance to make sure that my co-workers and I weren't up to any sinister. And I've never had a job where I carried a gun.

we have a saying in the UK....."only in america"

    totally rediculous, corrupt, and extremist.

it should be a crime to even pass such laws in the first place.

I don't think you should be able to record any random person, as its an invasion of their privacy, but if you see a crime in progress, or a cop acting strangely, then I see nothing wrong with it.

Peoplevsmedia, if you love me, you'll agree that this administration has a shoddy record when it comes to covering up crimes such as FAF and the Black Panthers terrorist incident. You should agree with me right away.

It really depends on who you're exposing, doesn't it? If it's Pre3sident Obama or any of his minions you're in big trouble.

I think it's weird that you're happy that more people have died. But yeah, it's a pretty big deal and I do hope that heads roll (figuratively speaking), as high up the political food chain as possible.

But what in the world does that have to do with the thread?

Yes, yes, ObamaObamaObamaObama. You people are obsessed.

Are you in favor of it being illegal to record cops or not?

It should be encouraged. Providing a video of a dirty cop in the process of a criminal act should be rewarded. Say with a $1000.00, per incident, and per cop involved.

So are saying we should be glad we can only go to jail and the police don't kill us instead??

Right on! Good thinking! Now if only you had a television station with some nightly news so you could implement this plan ...

... actually, they can go after news stations for airing video of cops, can't they? I recall reading that somewhere recently.

I think it depends somewhat on where they are. If you're in public, that's different than if you're somewhere like your home.

I do think there's a right to privacy implicit in the prohibition against unwarranted search.

It is not a crime in America to record anyone on the street, in public.

I love you no doubt. and there shouldn't be a need for me to even confirm that this (obama) administration is a bunch of scum, however the problem is when you limit your vision to only this administration. the puppet is not the core of the problem.

Don't know about that. The press always has some special privileges with the government normal citizens don't, but a cop can detain anybody for 24 hours while they figure out what they want to do with them. Plant stuff on them, beat the hell out of them saying they resisted, accuse them of obstructing justice simply by looking at them the wrong way, lie about them on a police report/arrest affidavit, and with extreme prejudice destroy just about anybodies reputation in the process. They just better hope their clout over rides whomever they wish to destroy.

They have that power, which is exactly why they should be filmed every time they are exercising that power, especially in public situations to assure they do not abuse that power they wield.
