The letters campaign by the Finnish army has ostensibly been carried out to "keep in touch" with its reservists, the Finnish Defense Ministry said on its website, and reservists have been asked to update their personal details that the army holds for them. what's wrong with Russia? I think Putin is in a very dangerous position, he wanna keep his seat and keep making trouble...
Putin is doing these things because he has to. He's desperate, his country is falling apart and he's trying to keep it together. He does what he feels he has to, and sometimes he can get over with it, and sometimes he can't.
The Finnish are not known for their military prowess. I do not think Russia has much to worry about. They didn't have much of a problem routing the Fins in 1940.

This strikes me as nonsense, and quite possibly the armed forces and centre right government seeking to float an idea in order to pressure the Finnish people into being more acceptable of the nation joining NATO and abandoning their independence. i wouldn't be at all surprised if NATO had a hand in this either. I beg to differ. Considering their position, they did a remarkable job during WWII. I would bet they are better trained and equipped than the Russians (although vastly outmanned).
Yeah right, Putin's in trouble. What I see is Washington bucking a lot of nations in the North because they want the oil and gas in Russia's territorial waters. Geologists have been examining the area and Russia has been staking its claims to the UN for quite a few years now. But as usual, when Washington doesn't have a legal case, it resorts to other means such as; propaganda, bullying, coercion, etc. Seems Finland has fallen prey to it.
"Vastly outmanned" more often than not, is the deciding factor in these things. Maybe we should send out letters to the IRR telling those folks to prepare just in case we need them to help the hot chicks in Finland. Probably should include a few representative pictures of these ladies just to raise their patriotic fervor.
So how in the world do you get that it is the USA doing this? Finland is a sovereign nation and quite capable of making its own decisions. That would be like me saying the reason Russia annexed the Crimea is because Washington told Russia to do it in secret because Russia cannot make its own decisions. News flash folks you all are giving WAY more credit to United States diplomacy then it deserves.
I have news for you. Russia knows that Washington wants to surround Russia and attack it on different fronts. Putin said that the Russian army is prepared to fight on three fronts. There are attacks going on now by American supported terrorists in the Caucasus and in Central Asia, but Russia has prepared them to fight. Those countries won't be caught napping the way the Ukrainians were with the American coup at Maidan. Right now the problems are in Macedonia, where Washington is ready to set the Balkans on fire by supporting the Muslim Albanians in their quest to form a greater Albania. They want it to include Kosovo, Bosnia, part of Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia. In other words to support a super Islamic state in the middle of Europe that will align itself with Turkey. This of course will start wars between the Muslims and the Orthodox Christians who haven't forgotten their suffering under the Ottomans.. Even worse is the intelligence on Transnistria. It's a small enclave populated by Russians in between Moldava and Ukraine. There are Russian peace keepers to protect the Russians and Ukrainians from the Romanians who like the Western Ukrainians were allied with the Nazis. The first thing in the report is to stop all supplies going through Ukraine...and that's what Poroshenko did last week. Since Transnistria is landlocked, the only way that supplies can get there is by air, and even still they would have to fly over one hundred kilometers of Ukrainian air space.
Are you serious? The Soviets got their asses handed to them during the 1938 war, they won but with huge losses and the victory was not total. That war showed that the Red Army was still a work in progress and gave Hitler extra motivation for war.
In less than ten years an alliance between Germany, the Russian Federation, and China will hold sway over Europe and Asia... probably most of Africa and the Middle East, too, with a "spur" partnership with Iran -- as long as the Shi'a Islamo-Nazis in Teheran don't slaughter anybody but the other sects of Islamo-Nazis and the Kurds.... The oceans will protect us from nothing. As it is, the Russians have their submarines running picket off our coasts right now, and they are all equipped to put nuclear weapons on American targets at any time. Our land borders are completely undefended and thrown wide open, thanks to Obama, who seems to hate this country even more than most of our identified enemies....
If Russia executes a nuclear attack against USA from their subs, we would do a full launch of probably somewhere near 2,000 weapons against their locations. SAC B52's and B1's, and USN subs / carrier fleets wouldn't be impacted by their assault on our ground targets. Candidly, many of our ground weapons would be fine and launch capable anyway. And don't forget we have a ton of nuclear weapons at NATO bases in Europe. Russia can't really assault USA and have a single citizen left alive after it's over. This was the whole basis for MAD, remember?
You're right, and I do remember it well. You may be underestimating the Russians a little bit, though. They have new submarines, and new missiles aboard them, recently tested successfully. In terms of sheer tonnage, the Russians have more nuclear weapons than anybody else in the world! No doubt we can launch a counter-attack with ICBM's, but if we have to wait for bombers to fly over Russia to put weapons on target, it won't go well. Moreover, the Russians have enough missile-based assets in their exclave at Kaliningrad to wipe out every NATO country except for the United States. They could literally turn either Berlin or Warsaw into radioactive vapors and twisted wreckage in less than ten minutes... believe it or not. But the Russians don't want war. They want BUSINESS! And they're going to get it... the Germans are getting rid of ALL of their nuclear power plants, and so they are going to need Russian natural gas more than ever! The Russians will be happy to sell it to them. Vladimir Putin has a Ph.D. in Economics... the man is not stupid. He can make Russia the most influential, wealthy, and powerful nation in the Eastern Hemisphere, so why would he want to start World War III? None of which means that anybody should underestimate the deep-seated, long-held hatred that Finland has for Russia! The Finns are tough as nails, meaner than hell, and they have very, very long memories. It is said that no Russian ever comes close enough to be within rifle shot of the border with Finland, and that has been true for at least thirty years that I know of. The Finns watch their border with Russia like a hawk and police it rigorously....
