Many self-proclaimed atheists speak as if they don't so much doubt the existance of a god, but rather blaim a god for all their troubles (or blaim a god for not fixing the world and making everyone happy). Is that really atheist? Is 'Anti-theism' (beleiving in, but opposing a god) a thing?
Atheist is a lack of belief in a God/s. It is likely when an atheist blames a god he/she is giving examples that contradict the beliefs of believers in the God. An example would be when I (atheist) claim the biblical God is a monster for committing/sanctioning genocide, rape, slavery etc.... This does not mean I hate a god, it means I don't believe in this mythical God based on scriptures. If this God were real, I would hate him.
Many self-proclaimed atheists probably believe in God but are angry because they can't experience the joy they see Christians having. So they call it a fairy tale and call Christians stupid, not because they believe it but because they want others to suffer as they are.
geez louise..... This whole existence thing is... Oh how to explain it ? !!! It still must be approached with signs and symbols and metaphors.....
How does anyone hate something that doesn't actually exist? Atheists can and do use examples of the atrocities committed by the Christian god as reasons why it is illogical to claim that god exists. They point to the pain and suffering that exists and ask why this imaginary god does nothing to stop it happening. That is not hatred at all. It is just asking logical questions that Christians cannot answer logically.
Another thread that offers a picture of atheists I simply do not recognise. Can you give an example of these "hate god" atheists?
Sarc is easy to misinterpret Dan, as it can be playful ribbing, or it can indeed be coming from a hateful place. This text media does not allow one to see expressions or nuance in tone of voice.
Is it atheist to hate god? Actually, no. The true atheist merely denies god exists in any form. Hard to hate nothing.
No it's rage against their self developed theology. They are confused due to ignorance. I've not seen one person who raged against God understand Christianity. If you don't believe then He doesn't exist so who is the object of all that hate?
Well, Frodo is so kind-hearted, so brave, such a role model that I do believe that he's......wait.....hold on....which fairytale are we talking about here?
Yes, I have the exact same amount of hatred/love for "god" as I do for "Bigfoot", and "Nessie", and "He-man".
Perhaps you are right, as sadly I've never experienced the sheer joy that followers of the Abrahamic faiths get when they follow their god's feelings towards gay people:
The god that they were born into (by sheer chance) - the god of their parents - you know, the one true god.
One study I saw showed that atheists understood the religious texts BETTER than the religious people did (on average.) So the lesson is that the MORE one understands religion the MORE likely one is to become an atheist.
It is not who, it is the concept. I find it extremely disturbing how believers in the abrahamic God believe he is loving and righteous despite vast amounts of evidence in the old and new testaments that contradict this belief.
