My girl calls me her cat, because she says I rob at her like her cat and I purr like her cat too. What does this make me? I am not sure what to make of this. Is it OK to be a cat? (And her cat sleeps on top of me too sometimes.)
It has signifigance to her, so go ahead and let her call you that. Call her something in return then.
Lol! That's what I was thinking. Cats will decide whether they will adopt you - or not..... That old saying 'call a dog and he''ll come - call a cat and they'll take a message' is very true.... they're very independent animals.
Look at it this way - does she love her cat? If so, then she loves you too. If she doesn't love or even like her cat .... you might want to talk to her about this........ Cats will sleep anywhere and everywhere and if the cat sleeps on top of you, then that means the cat likes you, feels safe w/you......
My granddaughter likes to pretend like she, my wife, and I are all cats, and that the daughter cat and the mama cat gang up on the papa cat and eat all the food. Life is not fair! There is nothing wrong with the imagination of a child, and if she wants to pretend you are her cat, play along. You have the opportunity to make memories you will both cherish.
Then my cats REALLY love me. We have three cats and a large house, yet no matter where my wife and I are in the house, there they are. If I am laying down, I become everyone's favorite pillow / bed. It is all good until they start fighting over territory while sleeping on me. They are all fully armed and tend to forget I am below them.
Just a heads up I was only calling you a cat as in feline, not homo. Wasn't even aware there was another meaning for cat. Cigar, if you were talking about cat in the homo sense, my apologies.
How much wisdom is behind the notion that Cats pick their owners and seem to know how to pull their strings.
Yup, you're loved by your cats all right...... lol! I had a black Manx named Moxy. He would sleep w/me, but usually down by my feet.... sometimes I'd wake up in the middle of the nite being suffocated b/c he snuck up and plopped himself across my neck & face. He was big, weighed close to 20#. Cats can be loveable, but sneaky.... dogs are more upfront and honest. - but I love them both.
I take it this still applies if she is not a child, (I don't have a daughter). I think I am doing increasingly well as a cat now.
Don't you hate it when they pull at you with their claws, while trying to settle for a sleep? My son (he was about 2 at the time) had it happen to him and he just put a cushion on his lap and the cat climbed back on and clawed the cushion. (how daft did we feel, having put up with it for long time...)
LOL! Our big cat likes to do that, but he knows claws hurt. If I am laying down, he will pull blankets towards me to make sure there are a couple layers before he starts "kneeding". The other cat knows kneeding can get attention, so instead of "kneeding" she will sit on top of you and just start hitting you as fast and as hard as she can without using claws. I have a feeling the rather startling and unexpected trips they've taken across the room through the air after using claws may have something to do with their care not to use them now. No, I did not intentionally throw them. I was reacting to being a human pincushion i.e. pain.
OK, silly me for thinking "my girl" was a daughter. And yes, it still applies if she is grown up! The silly things people do as couples / friends / whatever are what help define the relationship as special and unique. My wife and I have a number of things that are silly and childish on the surface, but help create a deeper, more personal bond that we both enjoy. And what is not to like about being a cat? OK, the incessant cleaning and furballs.... but besides that!
