Is my cat ruining my marriage?

My god.

 

My God indeed, Yet another reason that women have been trapped into marriages that resemble nothing so much as prison sentences for millenia. Love me, love my cat, we're a package deal.

 

This is ludicrous. It's a ****ing cat. If a cat breaks up a marriage, then those two involved have much deeper issues than worrying about getting rid of a cat.

I hope you guys work through this...

 

I'm sorry but considering that your husband married you when you owned the cat, you cannot blame the cat for your marriage having issues.

It's amazing to me how many people keep pets with no apparent feeling for creatures that love them unconditionally. People say that cats are aloof but the fact is they are creatures of instinct and their instincts are to be cautious and deferential around a creature that is usually at least 10 if not 20 times their size. A cat that will meet your gaze is showing you a sign of trust you could get from few other animals as that is normally the signature of challenge throughout the animal kingdom

 

Try not feeding it, and see how much it loves you.

Perhaps not coincidentally, the condition most notably ignored by such love as is provided by both pets and prostitutes is the lovability of the recipient. Your pet doesn't see your faults because it's blind to such things, and the prostitute feigns blindness to maintain her clientele.

 

Don't be too sure.

Animals are God's innocents, like the angels since the Great Rebellion they are as incapable of doing wrong as they are of doing right or doing anything that God has not ordained they do. My cat would eat me if I died, and so would my dog, but they wouldn't love me any less, they'd just be hungry.

That big boy of mine on my lap often does that. When on my lap and being petted, he'll purr loudly and look up at me with this look of pure love and gently reach out one of those big paws, as if he just wants to return the favor.

Who could possibly NOT love this kitty !!!

 

Got home last night around midnight after a double shift 18 hours long.

Slept-in around noon just now with my cat sleeping at my feet on top of the covers.

When I got up he meow'ed and led the way into the kitchen where his food plate is, and I put some fresh tuna on it. He gobbled it down since it has been 6 hours later than his usual feeding time when I get home a dawn.

Now as I am getting cleaned up and dressed he has crawled back under the covers to take over the bed for the next 24 hours until I get back at dawn from work on my next graveyard shift.

 

With no insult intended, you don't sound like you've ever bonded well with an animal. It's not a matter of 'being loved by an animal'. It's the unconditional love they can give, and the comfort and companionship they provide.

I think it's open to question as to whether bonding with an animal is ever a good thing.

Afraid I'm not seeing a distinction.

 

There is the animal who will rub your legs, the walk away. Then there is the animal who gives you a full body hug, and cuddles in with you.

 

In either case, the most you get out of it is a feeling.

 

So, I will guess you are one of those guys that doesn't believe in love or trust, cause, well, it's just a feeling.
