Oh certainly that is true- either the story is true or the story isn't true. That is the absolute.

However the post was made about this story, and it is always rational to consider whether or not the story is true before jumping to conclusions as to what the story means- if true.

So while it is correct that if your child said she saw Santa Claus last night, it is either true or not true- and the source is immaterial as to whether or not it is truely true- rational people consider the source when trying to give credence to a story.

Irrational people consider the Sun's story of Nostradamus' predictions coming true, and anything in WND as of equal weight to the Wall Street Journal reporting that the Dow went down today.

    So Smartmouth....

are you lying or were you just fooled?

let me give you a clue: white.gov is not whitehouse/gov.1

The clue is where it says on the top right- "parody of whitehouse.gov"

What part can't you figure out? After 2008 his book sales took off, and now they are tapering off- he reported millions of dollars in book royalty income.

Not enough to buy the WND fantasy island home but still millions.

    What news would that be?

Me, being the curious person I am typed Obama Hawaii Home Purchase- then searched in the news in Google.

So what are all of these 'news' outlets that Google can't seem to find? All I find it on is WND and the usual anti-Obama blogs.

Genetic Fallacy: The genetic fallacy is the claim that an idea, product, or person must be untrustworthy because of its racial, geographic, source or ethnic origin. "That car can't possibly be any good! It was made in Japan!". "This cannot be true because it was found in..."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I read threads like this. Conservatives just gullibly believing (*)(*)(*)(*) so crazy they cannot even tell the difference when their source is a parody comic piece. And it isn't the first time.

When you constantly put blind faith in a source that has been proven so unreliable and wrong over and over again, it's called an "intelligence fallacy".

As I pointed out in the other thread on this, this is another incident of Corsi throwing shat against the wall trying to see what sticks. Even if it dribbles down the wall, the *********s of America lap it up in a feeding frenzy.

All over the news.... where, exactly?

Do you understand what a news story is vs. a forum post? It doesn't seem that you do.

yeah- they are sort of like Birthers about this- it gets posted on dozens or hundreds of anti-Obama blogs, and even though it is just copied and pasted and passed on, they are convinced that if there is more and more ape droppings somehow the sheer quantity means it is perfume rather than droppings.

so posting a hate story from stormfront should not be dismissed simply because its a site full of pinhead racists? In the real world sometimes the fallacy is a fallacy.

Um, i know this is going to come as a shock, but there are perks associated with being potus. There isn't a mortgage company in the country (or the world) who doesn't understand the prestige and earning potential of former presidents.

Actually, it is called seeing beyond the source to the truth, if any....Your position is blindness...The lefts media waited many many months before admitting Bubba did have sex with that woman. It took the Times a week to admit the obvious about the terror attack in Libya.

It takes a foolish man to shoot the messenger.

Skeptical is not the same as the lefts blind refusal to accept anything from that source...If it said the sun rose in the east the left would, en mass, watch the west for the sunrise.

And when you reject an idea based on its source its called the genetic logic fallacy and invalidates your argument.

The Times has verifiable facts and when it's wrong it admits it. WND is a conspiracy rag that feels no obligation to tell the truth. There is not a chance this is as good as the times. This isn't even up to Fox New's standards.

Funny I was thinking about the whacky far rights assumption that WND is Gospel handed down from God almighty to Jerome Corsi (God is the super secret source Corsi has special access too) and that WND is never to be questioned or doubted.

    LOL.

You post a story that on the face of it seems less than credible, from a less than credible source and basically you object to us pointing it out- basically by saying "Hey the story could be true!"

It is tabloid journalism for the far right. And you lap it up.

In the real world, as observed by Plato a long time ago, true is true and false is false and has zero to do where it is found. The weak minded need the vetting of a friendly source.

Ahhh yea, I understand. What's your point? Why does it seem like I don't? Or are you just here to throw insults?

Have you never considered that entering public service with amount X in 'wealth' and leaving it with X + zowie! might just be a tad corrupt?

They don't realize that msnbc is a joke, because they LIKE what they say. Obama loves Hawaii, he can smoke all the pot he wants and get away with it there. It will be a good permanent escape for him.

'reject an idea'? Since when is a story an idea? And what the heck is a 'genetic logic fallacy'?

It is perfectly valid to point out that the veracity of a story is doubtful when the source of the story regularly publishes stories of dubious veracity.

If you came and lied to me 99 times- telling me 99 times that my car is on fire- yeah I have reason to doubt it when you come and tell me the 100th time that my car is on fire. True- it might be...but I have a valid reason to lend your story little credence.
