In my opinion, W was unfairly attacked by Dems as unintelligent and I remember defending him until Yellowcake. He was relatively smart in comparison but was unfortunately under the influence of Cheney who was something of a Haliburton Trump.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times -- we should (SHOULD) be putting millions upon millions of dollars into hydrogen fusion research -- the ultimate in endless power, running on sea water molecules and releasing oxygen as an 'exhaust'. Solar is "nice", as far as it goes, when the skies are clear, and, the required battery technology is a small bit better than it was, say, twenty years ago. But everything else is insignificant compared to the promise of hydrogen fusion! Maybe the Chinese will finally develop it, since it seems that no one else is going to, for one reason or another....

As far as Donald Trump's mentality is concerned... well... as it stands this morning, I'll take him over anyone else I've seen running for the presidency, with the possible exception of Andrew Yang. Andrew Yang is impressive, and even though he's got that "Universal Basic Income" socialistic-welfare nonsense as part of his appeal to the 'something-for-nothing' crowd, the man is definitely the 'brightest light' that Democrats have on their party's 'tree'.... I understand that it's impossible to be seriously considered for anything among Democrats unless there's some "free stuff" giveaway for the parasite constituency. Still, when contrasted with ALL other Democrats, he's head and shoulders above them. It remains to see how his mentality would stack up against Trump's, or, perhaps of greater importance right now -- the mentality of 'Geriatric Joe' Biden.... :cynic:

You quoted my post, but didn't reply to my question to you. It wasn't a mystery, Aleks... I never said a person shouldn't pay taxes, and I made that CRYSTAL CLEAR to anyone with even the lower levels of comprehension. So, how did you manage to invent a fantasy in which I said that I think anyone who pays income taxes is nuts? I don't mind criticism, Aleks, and I get a LOT of it here all the time. But be rational and more logical than this!

Simply put: our taxation system would be a LOT more fair if we each paid for government 'services' that we actually USE. I'll bet you use highways, bridges, roadways, streets, and municipal/county/state bureaus and offices for various functions that are vital to you. I'll bet you rely on a police department and fire department to protect you from criminals and other dangers. I'm all in favor of ALL of us paying taxes to support institutions and functions like those -- but there are many, many others that a lot of us don't use at all, and the entire taxpaying population shouldn't have to pay for those things. Got it now...?

You guys on the Left think Trump's crazy, but I'll bet I could explain this viewpoint on taxation to him, and he'd get it. None of YOU, however, do... because you're a faction that's committed to forcing everyone to pay for your pet-interests, your offspring, your expenses, and your propensity for having the government robbing "Peter" (the maker) to pay "Paul" (the taker)....

He's a narcissist and an egomaniac, in my unprofessional opinion.

A stark improvement over the sociopaths and megalomaniacs we've had in previous decades. Crazy? Sure. Anyone who wants to be president of this crazytown would have to be. But Trump is the best kind of crazy we can realistically hope for.

Putin had Hillary right where he wanted her, especially after that rotten 'uranium deal' she authorized. And China? 'Business-as-usual' under every Democrat in the past forty years insured that China would go right on manipulating currencies, 'sponsoring' business initiatives, and stealing American technologies to suit themselves. Hell, Bill Clinton sold/gave China bleeding-edge American technology while he was president.

The thing that neither Russia nor China wanted was an unpredictable, Right-wing, Capitalist 'entrepreneur' in the White House. They could laugh and "take turns" doing a witless, venal moron like Hillary Clinton -- but Trump? Their worst nightmare! But, if Democrats win in 2020, it'll be back to 'business-as-usual'....

[IMG]. "2020? No sweat... it's a Democrat win!"

I can think of nothing more senseless than a multi-millionaire spending every moment of their lives trying to find new ways to make more money. When is enough enough? If I were super rich, I'd be looking for ways to help the world become a better place for us all.

Well... that's your opinion, to which you are entitled.

But because ours is a society of FREE citizens, the question of "When is enough enough" is answered only by one of our FREE citizens. You can 'settle' for a little, or you can work on toward having more. It is all up to you. But don't disparage those who aspire to something better and more of what life has to offer for those who TRY.

Honestly, I never knew anyone who lived in grinding poverty who was a happy person... but different people have different priorities.

I'm not pretending that settling for poverty is a good idea. But when one has enough money that spending it all in a lifetime would be a challenge, it's time to find other things to value in life. Greed may be a fine motivator when the quest for wealth begins, but unquenchable greed once wealth is obtained, is a form of mental illness (in my opinion).

Trump just doesn't seem like a normal person to me. Have you ever known somebody who you knew had something but you didn't have a doctor's note to prove it? Trump just seems like someone with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, sociopathy, or psychopathy. I'm not a medical professional so I can't give a diagnosis but I know something is up.

Nah, he's just got an inflated ego, or possibly just pretends to have one. He would have cracked up and been taken out of the White House in a straight jacket by now.

I think that Trump is in salesman mode all the time. I also think he know his limitations but sees no benefit in putting himself down and apologizing for enjoying life like today's white male is expected to do.

I know people with inflated egos and salesmen. I have also known people with the mental disorders I listed. Trump just seems very much like some with a disorder of some kind. Having a mental disorder doesn't mean you are actually insane and should be institutionalized. For example, most psychopaths aren't murdering people, and instead manage to have very good careers in finance and business thanks to their ruthlessness. Movies often portray mentally ill people as insane when really they are normal people who are very odd in one way.

I'm not a doctor who can give a precise diagnosis, and I could easily be wrong, but Trump just seems so abnormal that I'm pretty sure he has something.

Running away so soon? Intelligence is measurable. It doesn't matter what your opinion is: rocket scientists score higher on IQ tests than janitors because they are more intelligent.

    Savvy? Everyone else does.

Donald Trump does not keep his money stuffed under a mattress. Nor do Warren Buffett, Jeff Bezos, Jack Ma, or Bill Gates.

Where do you suppose their money is?

Let's post On-Topic to the Question in the OP:

    "Is President Trump mentally ill"?

Is that one of those Trick Questions?

    Like, "Does 1+1=2" ?
