I am proposing that the war in Ukraine is actually a proxy war with the US. I think this is one likely explanation of Putin's actions, which seem inexplicable otherwise.

This war is not hurting Russia all that much. It's costing Putin men and treasure, that is true but he seems to think he has enough to lose and the hurting he is putting on the US, what with all the inflation, is probably very gratifying to him. It may not be why he started it, (I think he thought it would be an easy walkover), but it's probably why he's keeping it going.

We agree here. It is a proxy war. The war may not have hurt Russia much but is certainly has hurt Putin personally everywhere outside of Russia.

Sure, but I don’t think it was intentionally so. The war was supposed to be over in a matter of days, but Russia forgot to put the blitz into its krieg. So a proxy war is now effectively what we have, and one that pits Russias 20th ranked economy against the combined economies of much of the world, with much more limited support from its own allies due to completely undermining itself in the world of political optics with non-stop lies and war crimes.

At this point all they have are nuclear threats to try to manipulate western action but the battlefield isn’t looking good for them and time is not on their side.

it’s kinda like the Confederacy thinking they could stall the war long enough for the North to get tired of it and to get help from the British. Except oh wait time they are facing a determined enemy and the British aren’t coming because they don’t like your slavery so it might take a while but you’re going to get ground into the dust.

Russia is finding itself in a similar predicament, exacerbated by their muskets requiring components from northern factories. Whoops!

How you define war. Yes, Russia is at war with us and the West on our ideas with words, but it is not a shooting war.

Our inflation is caused by Biden, not Putin…

It's not a shooting war directly between US and Russian forces yet But, it could easily become one. Russia considers themselves faced with an existential threat from NATO and will not quit fighting in Ukraine until they've crushed the country no matter the costs

Just because Pootin thinks so, doesn’t make it true.

Can you please tell the Biden chap to fix our inflation as well. Actually I'm in Germany at the moment, big inflation. Can you fix Germany's too please? Very inconsiderate of Biden.

    Thanks.

The real pain is, of course, the stunning revelation that the Russian Army is largely incapable of handling any sort of insurgency and hasn't learned a damn thing since Afghanistan.

Links to exactly what you are claiming or is it a necessary rabbit hole? Thanks.

Or Putin dies or simply runs out of any thing with which to fight.

Dude has or has not Biden shut of the pipeline and stalled drilling permits to the point that there is no difference between what his actually doing and just saying. Putin didn't sanction oil sales the Biden admin has done that. And please feigning ignorance of what is at this point common knowledge is not a good place to be.

So you wanna pretend ignorance of reality. Okay be my guest. The information is well and widely known. The only way you wouldn't be aware of these facts would be because you've been sleeping in Biden's pocket for the last two years.

Not surprises here; you are unable to provide any link to you claim; hence, the claim was nonsense. Instead, your post desperately pivots to spurious ad homs. Too easy, so please read the second quote in my sig.

I'm sure Putler figured it would've been an easy walkover....turned out different, he was anticipating flowers and open arms....instead he was met with Stingers and Javelins, which probably drove him crazy.

I doubt he had regime change in mind.....well, sort....one can say a temporary "governor" installed long enough until hostilities were over....then an outright annexation. I think Dwarfstan realized a puppet President would last 2 weeks before someone took him out, so outright annexation was the only option.

He wouldn't have stopped there....Moldova, Belarus, Finland,Baltics were all in play....he's still determined NATO must withdraw. Not happening though.

Zelensky still there....so the dwarf failed there....now he terrorizes everything in hopes of scaring into submission.

Russki army seems a joke....for everyone to see....no match for 21st Century weapons NATO uses....all Dwarfstan is doing is threatening nukes.

I actually find this quite amusing... Germany was warned by a very smart man that warned them to get off the Russia oil teat... they depend mostly on Russian supplied oil... When the very smart man told them this these folks had a good belly laugh and the whole world, the left, and possibly you and your ilk laughed at the very smart man.. This very smart man has been correct on lotsa stuff, and this is just another examples... so I don't pity you and your little Germany pout about their inflation they cause themselves... Joe Biden caused the US inflation... So if they bend you over and ream you out while you are there, so be it....

    Yeah, of course.

What this war has demonstrated is that centralised military forces are heavily overrated in the modern day.

Modern warfare is asymmetrical, the guerrilla force has a massive advantage on such a battlefield, especially when we give them tens of thousands of weapons that are fire and forget.

Give every Ukranian a stinger and they're the most powerful force around.

What nation states have are economic levers and nuclear weapons.

Yes, and it was always intended to be. NATO countries have been worrying over the extremists we've been funding there for years. We poured endless cash into the anti-Russia political groups in Ukraine while providing their militant radicals with weapons and training. The only reason to do this would be to provoke Russia into a trap. Putin jumped into it head first. So its not like Russia didn't play its own part, they attacked after all. But the west/NATO wanted them to and did everything possible to get them to. Our political establishment views Russia as an uncooperative antagonist on the world stage and wants it gone, no matter how many Ukrainians have to suffer and die in the process. We cant attack Russia first because we're 'the good guys', but getting them to attack Ukraine (since they wouldn't have attacked an actual member of NATO) is the next best thing.

Do you have a theory as to why we didn’t get Ukraine to fight back 8 years ago? See, I just blew a hole in your hypotheses.
