Any reform that reduces the size, power and cost of government is good reform at this point.

That's true. Politicians don't care how much things cost, only the votes those things provide.

I agree, but that is not Trump. It is not Clinton. So flip your coin or do as I do, vote third party in hopes of finding a diamond in the rough. Those two are two of the most untrustworthy candidates who ever ran for the presidency.

Job 1 for politicians is money. Votes are job 2.

Government programs and projects, in effect, launder tax revenue through the donors and then back to the politicians as donations for future favors. Money retrieved from the donor class sustains the entire ruling political class. Voters allow the politicians to stay in the game at level 1. When they lose they move to the next level - lobbying/consulting/law firms - "beltway bandits".

Go ahead and try to convince us that Trump is being mistreated by the haters. Oh, that's right, the haters are the Trump supporters. Fail.

    Maybe
    just maybe
They might think that it's not good for the country if

the presidential candidate has already stated the best way to reduce the national debt is for the country to declare bankruptcy
    And renegotiate the national debt

Also they may not approve of a president who believes we should kill the family members
Of terrorist in this country without giving them a trial or hearing

And it is against American principles to torture people but the GOP leader wants to extend
The torture of prisoners a lot further than water boarding

And I hope you realize the democratic party does not control the president
The republicans did not control bush

Again right wing political propaganda as weak minded people believing in this political BS

a political party does not control the president of the United States

Haters always mistreat people. Read your posts.

When the Trump supporters beat the snot out of the Nazis and Klansmen at their rally do you think they were "mistreating" them?

So you believe politicians are primarily concerned with "what is good for the country". I have to ask: Do you also still believe in Santa & the Tooth Fairy? ;-)

“Media reports on government actions, whether debates, legislation, or regulation, almost always present them in terms of pure policy. New laws are for a specific purpose, perhaps even a noble one. But what if that isn't the real purpose of the exercise? What if politics is largely about fund-raising and moneymaking? The commercial motives of the Permanent Political Class in acting or not acting are rarely questioned and virtually never fully understood.” EXTORTION, "How Politicians Extract Your money, BuyVotes, And Line Their Own Pockets, Peter Schweizer, HMO, NY, NY, 2013. p. 2, 3.

A ruling political class is always primarily concerned with money - with personal enrichment. It is what they do.

Why on earth would you assume that I am a Bush defender? Your case against Trump is thin and spurious for the most part. Find something more substantial or watch him coast into the White House. Just keep on digging! :)

Throughout my life I tried to do a very good job no matter where I worked when
But you seem to think that a person that seeks a job serving their country
    must be crooked
The question I have to ask you
do you care about your country
i Hope your answer would be yes,
Do you think you you would lose your concern for your country if appointed or won election to Public office

Did you ever wonder why the only negative ads you ever see will be political
And no advertisement for any product will you find the eight negative Ad

That is the cause they don't want people to turn against a product
You are a victim of negative political advertisement

Oh, Come on! You know better than that. Politics is a dirty corrupt business. Anyone who takes a job on the Hill who is not corrupt or quickly corruptible will not last through one election cycle. They do not serve their country - they serve themselves. If you are a political insider you know all this very well

“[T]he running existential contradictions of D.C., a place where “authenticity and fantasy are close companions”, as the Washington Post’s Henry Allen once wrote. It misses that the city, far from being hopelessly divided, is in fact hopelessly interconnected. It misses the degree to which New Media has democratized the political conversation while accentuating Washington's insular, myopic, and self loving tendencies. It misses, most of all, a full examination of how Washington may not serve the country well but has, in fact, worked splendidly for Washington itself– A city of beautifully busy people constantly writing the story of their own lives.” Mark Leibovich, This Town, Penguin Books, 2013, p. 10.

The only "public servants" who serve the country are not involved in the political process.
