I'd like to think so, although this could just be bluster to please the British public. Cameron's rhetoric on Iran is pretty much the same as Obama's, saying ''now is not the time'' etc, which is certainly preferable to the Romney/Netanyahu rhetoric that ''Iran must be stopped.'' Stopped from doing what, one might ask, as it is still the consensus of all 16 US intelligence agencies that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon, nor have they decided to do so.

Then again, Cameron doesn't really have much choice. He knows most of the British public were against attacking Iraq, and the same will be true for Iran, if not more so. As the Tories didn't win enough seats in the last election to be able to form a government by themselves, complicity in a war against Iran would pretty much guarantee that Labour would win the next election.

Iran has not broken any international laws, nor is there any indication that they might do so.

The Tory government is deeply unpopular right now, mostly due to the austerity spending cuts which are hitting the majority rather than the minority wealthy. Cameron needs to tread very carefully, and he knows it. Having said that I don't trust the weasel one little bit, especially when you consider all the policy u-turns his government have had to make in the face of public opposition. It wouldn't surprise me at all if tomorrow he were to announce his fawning support for anything America desires, frankly.

 

Cameron is Pro American where as Clegg is Pro Europe ........ But Diego Garcia is a very very delicate subject, it should have been given back to the peoples of the Island, who had been their for as long as American Slaves have been in the USA.

He does however know that dragging this country into things, against the wishes of the people, and at great cost, would probably make them unelectable again for about 25yrs.
