Probably the same. CAFTA just prevents the government from raising the minimum wage or regulating the market. The Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) chapter allows corporations to sue governments for actions that undermine their investment “expectations” and hurt their business. Cases are decided by an international corporate court. "Free Trade" is trading away democracy to multinational corporations.

 

Whenever there is an opportunity for a Central America citizen to work for a "Multinational Corporation" they'll line up for hours. Would you rather work for Volvo or Jorge's Sweat Shop. Foreign investment is the only chance many of these lower and middle class people have and, of course, if you invest you want as little interference from the corrupt government as possible. And they are all corrupt, though Costa Rica may be the exception.
