I don't think they were exactly thriving under Obama. They were on their way out when Trump took office, and even if he hastened their demise, its undeniable that Obama helped put one foot in their grave. Another point, is that the middle east isn't necessarily our business and we aren't responsible for everything that happens in other countries.
