Yes there were, Arabs didn't have much to do with the Slave Trade on the West African Coast but they were the ones who went into the interior and prised out the slaves that were the products of the Bantu Migrations that started in the 10th century. They had built up some resistance to the diseases that kept the Portugeuse out through this trade in East Africa and it was only in the late 18th and early 19th centuries that 'white' men started penetrating these areas since the lack of slaves overall made it necessary, disease or no.

 

Considering how many Black tribes in Africa captured and sold other Black Tribes in Africa....shouldn't they be hitting them selves up for cash?

 

You're wrong. We conservatives don't think we have any national sins to be atoned for, and we sure as hell don't think any blacks today have suffered from slavery. Reparations are bullshit and just another word for redistribution, taking from those that have earned their money and giving it to those who haven't.

It's likely that more people on the left think it's a bad idea than don't but are afraid of being called a racist. Remember progs and libs do not tolerate opposing views especially from their own, don't toe the line, get banished.

I could be wrong. I am pretty sure though that diseases kept "white" people out of the African interior well into modern times (and may still have effects) and I know that the Arabs started the East African slave trade in about the 10th century.

 

The Arabs traded with Egypt, Babylon and the Levant, East Africa and the Indus Valley long before Islam. I just never thought they were in West Africa.

As anything more than slave traders with the interior, they probably weren't. I do recall reading that the great slave markets at Zanzibar sometimes had victims from right across the Continent but I am unsure when this was

The strangest part of that movie 'Band of Brothers' was where the one guy was asking a German prisoner where he had been brought up and the answer was "New York" the prisoner being an expatriate who had returned. He was later summarily executed.

If they're not responsible than there's no reason to pay reparations. No one living today was ever a slave owner and very few were ever slaves.

 

Not really The Bantu migrations and wars had a consequence of producing a surplus of males and this revived the slave trade which had declined, (though by no means ended), in Medieval times. This was a normal consequence of migration and war and should have stayed an internal movement. The slaves were extracted and sent out of Africa by the Europeans, this being a main driver of the early Age of Exploration.

 

Paying reparations won't uplift anyone. The money will be gone in a month. Nikes, bling and crack. Money gone.
There's a chip on their shoulders called slavery and they wear it like a badge of honor. When they cast off that chip and stop being slaves on the Democrat plantation, they will be uplifted.

 

It's not a matter of paying a debt but rather making right an egregiously unjust arrangement which still continues and will never end otherwise.
