Here we have yet another reason to be very carefull when we throw the term ‘Christian’ around without defining it.

Christians define Christianity and have as many definitions as there are Christians.

If God is omnipotent why can’t he make a little rain in areas where people are dying because of drought? Either he is not omnipotent or he is sadistic

So your only criteria for a successful religion is their use of rhetoric.

Thanks. I will check out the referenced books. I always like to read opinions that disagree with mine if they are well reasoned.

Those writings are not based on reasoning. That is the domain of the human mind. Instead, they are based on spiritual experiences and insights, and are largely characterizations of those experiences.

God regretted making Saul king. God still hates Esau. God is a lousy lover.

No "He" didn't/doesn't/isn't. That was the writer of the bible book saying those things.

Why either omnipotent or sadistic? Why not both?

Good point. If I was omnipotent and I let little children die when I had the power to stop them , what would you think of me?

They reject our faith and do not view the world through "spiritual eyes". The Bible says they are still in a state of spiritual death and they die every day. It is not our job to convince, only to convey what God has done. To me it is quite apparent what my role is and the world is definitely blind to that role. It is a condition for which I have no control over and God has relinquished that control. The Apostle John who stood at the foot of the cross where Jesus suffered and died wrote a very convincing testimony in his epistle 1st John. It touches me deeply, yet the world just mocks and makes excuses. It's hard to understand but the Word testifies that would happen. Through that, we can relate a little bit as to how the Lord suffered. It actually emboldens my faith. I know they'll never understand without a miracle and drawing of the Spirit of God.

You talk about christianity like it is one religion. There are thousands of different christian religions and most think the rest are crackpot or heathens.

So are you with Billy-Bob's church of Tractors or The Meth Crystal Cathedral?

'God works in mysterious ways' is the usual evasion for that theological conundrum.

It’s no conundrum. This world fell to sin when Adam and Eve yielded to Satans temptations. Satan took dominion of this world temporarily from Adam and the sin experiment is running its course here. Since Jesus died for our sins the battle has been won. It’s just a matter of time before every prophecy is fulfilled, everyone living has heard the good news gospel message and everyone’s mind is made up with no one willing to change. Then the 2nd coming happens. The bottom line is that until then the goats and sheep, wheat and Tares grow and live together. It rains or droughts on the good and the wicked. Good and bad catch diseases, men having free will means that sometimes bad men do bad things to good people. God does intervene in some situations in answer to prayer and doesn’t in others. In the end the righteous will have eternal life in heaven and on this earth recreated as it one was with the new Jerusalem present while the wicked will be consumed by hell ending the last battle between good and evil. The new earth will be recreated upon the ashes of the devil, his angels, and the human wicked.

you mean when they wanted to put clothes on and God got upset that he could no longer watch them play naked in the garden?

if God doesn't intervene when a child is molested in a Church, he either doesn't exist or doesn't care enough too

Yeah, I knew all of that by the second grade. Is that as far as you've gotten?

I have to laugh when I see some reference to "Spreading the Good Word!" or some similar reference to proselytizing.

WE'VE ALL HEARD IT!!! You really don't need to explain it. It is both ignorant and condescending to think anyone hasn't heard this bs.

Funny thing I realized back when I was religious. The first thing was the when I visited religious people, it was always the man who was pushing religion. The women usually didn't engage in the "convincing". Slowly I began to realize that this was because men need proof. Most women are happy to decide what they believe and go with it. But men tend to be more analytic. They go on for decades trying to convince everyone they meet that THEY have THE answers to life the universe and everything. And they need to tell us about it. But the truth is, they are trying to satisfy their own need for proof. They know they can NEVER really prove anything. It is a bottomless pit. But if they try to prove it to everyone else long enough, maybe they'll convince themselves.

This is what I have observed to be the true motivations for proselytizing.

You’re right, he lets innocent children die in famines, because he’s in the middle of a football huddle

I'm not an atheist but the Bible isn't proof of anything. It's arrogant to believe that only Christians have the one true answer.
