From my perspective, oil prices rising due to "non-economic" events such as military conflict in the Middle East, is a form of inflating the price of oil.

 

From my understanding, the Fed has even more "tools" at its disposal to counteract inflation since the Great Depression. It is one reason why the lowest unemployment in thirty years resulted in wages out performing inflation instead of merely increasing inflation.

 

Price inflation in a single commodity may cause an inflationary spiral of dependent variables such as products and services that utilize that resource.

The Fed is only responsible for monetary policy, not fiscal policy since that is delegated to our federal Congress.
