True, but I could have wished for a better civilization to take the keys.

Why? China has been around way longer than the anglos and have mostly stayed within their borders and kept to themselves. I say give them a chance, maybe the Indu could be next.

Also, life is short. Neither you or I will be there to see if they succeed or fail, like you and many other have failed before.

Just because one nation has "been around longer" doesn't mean they are right. Their human rights violations and world-wide hacking, and war mongering, isn't any more peaceful than any other nation. Ask Japan...

Uh, they are not staying in their borders now. I don't expect any retreat back to them in the future. And I don't know how old you are, but it's highly possible I could live long enough to see them succeed...or fail.

The U.S. very rarely starts wars. Neither does United Kingdom.

So bad when we did it, great when they did it. Well, at least you know what side you're on.

The Revolutionary War (War of Insurrection) started BEFORE the United States actually existed.

Now, perhaps there are better ways of achieving my goals than a direct attack on China.

    A naval blockade.

    1) This is well within the capabilities of the United States.

    2) It would play to U.S. strengths. That is to air and naval power.

    3) A distant blockade would allow the bulk of U.S. forces to stay beyond the easy strike range of Chinese land based forces.

    4) Given a few years or preparation, the U.S. could easily build up sufficient resources to ride out the economic impact of losing China as a trade source.

    5) A blockade would ultimately destroy the Chinese economy and sew lots of domestic discord there.

    6) I would put the onus of actually initiating direct hostilities on the Chinese rather than the U.S.

    7) For those of you squeamish about the issue, it would avoid the U.S. directly attacking Chinese civilians (for the most part).

Isn't this a vast improvement on my original idea.

Just so you know, Dayton3 is not a Trump supporter (as clearly evidenced from other past posts, including previous username incarnations).

I know it's surprising and seemingly unbelievable, but there's actually a little club of war-mongering vengeance-demanding Trump-haters on this forum.

I could be wrong. Maybe I am thinking of other Daytons in the past, or maybe there were no other Daytons. But I'm pretty sure I remember you being a Trump hater, thinking Julian Assange should suffer (correct me if I am wrong about that), seeming to be very vengeful, and being a war hawk.

What do you think the rest of the world is going to be doing as the US enacts plans to "destroy" China?

Don't forget to build bunkers and self sustainable vault systems where we can survive nuclear fallout. I need some power armor for christmas

@Dayton3 So even if you defeat China in the next 20 years, what would happen ? China would rebuild and would get their revenge soon or late. They're on of the oldest civilization in the world, and one of the mightiest around the history of the world. They managed to rebuild from communism in a few decades, from the poorest country to the mightiest one. They handed the coronavirus crisis much much better than a lot more countries in the world, even if by the way we can't fully trust their reports.
Excepted if you genocide the would chinese population, which won't happen because the rest of the world won't let you do so.

Anyway no democrats would follow you on that project, neither the vast majority of republicans.

And the last question, with what soldiers ? USA are a sterile country as their birth rate is terribly low, you have vast amount of obesity, or people who will never want to fight (left winged (and I really dislike them, but on that I fully understand them), libertarians, other weirdos)... I'm not sure either latinos or black people would be very happy to have to fight some chinese, and they represent a growing part of youth.

Furthermore, you plan on the fact that it would work, but in war, nothing happen as planned.

The only thing that you would cause is the destruction of USA.

The U.S. has the highest birth rate of any western country in the world. Roughly at replacement rate.

The political opposition can change their positions easily enough. Just as the Republicans did from entering World War Two to supporting it.

China can rebuild. But it will be controlled from Taiwan. And without nuclear weapons or a navy, China can never threaten the United States again.

Shake their heads pathetically in public but in private quietly smile and calculate how they can benefit most.
