The new GA voting discrimination act just stoops to new levels of low. But at the end of the day, this is the one that I think is the most uncompassionate law I have ever seen.

It should never be illegal to give another human being a drink of water. The GA Republican party has no soul.

You are correct. This is totally ridiculous! The only thing I can think of is that Republicans want it to be totally off the wall so that any judge will rule against it due to human rights groups suing against it, and these groups are doing it now too.

I can imagine where it would be a problem if there was clear political ideological messages on the water bottles. Like if it said "Brought to you by Mr.Smith, vote for me!". But not in this case at all. It makes no sense at all other than a blatant attempt to make it as hard as possible to vote. And it's stupid.

If Republicans feel that attempts to convince people are wrong perhaps they need to outlaw political ads.

The Georgia "law" violates the Constitution in multiple ways and is a human rights atrocity.

This is designed to make voting more difficult for some people in certain areas.

    1. They could have neutral parties hand out the water and food so there is no question about election integrity.

    2. Or, a smart business move would be to set up a cart in the parking lot where would-be-voters can buy snacks and beverages before getting in line.

    3. Or, people could stop playing games with polling places and voter accessibility so all those legally eligible to vote can do so quickly and efficiently as it is in other areas of the state and country. Hint: That won't happen.

your proposed solution #3 is, of course, the proper way for democracy to function.

Going by thread title, it should never be illegal to give another human being food or water, yet about 2 years ago the US Capitol Police smashed an old man to the ground for attempting to deliver food and water to those members of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington DC who had been placed under siege by the Trump Administration.

So you're in favor of waterboarding then?

    Relax. It was a joke.

They’re not the only state where repubs are trying to enact a slew of new Jim Crow laws to repress voters.
We are now having to deal with the sewer that trump left. Voters will need to weed out the seditious, corrupt and bigoted characters that he enabled wherever they crop up.

It is illegal in Georgia to distribute campaign material at a voting place. That is supposedly the reason for not allowing water to be distributed, because of possible voter influence. Likely, that is not the reason, but that is the justification provided.

Meanwhile, as Kemp was in his office signing the Bill, State Rep Park Cannon was arrested for knocking on his door. You just can't make this sh!t up!

I would hold your place in line so you could go get a drink....how 'bout that! Handing out water opens up the line to be politicized and votes influenced. Don't try and make it a human crisis. Better just stick with race propaganda!

It is the reason. Problem is.....they need to open up many more voting precincts. It is a State problem.

Those first two points make it sound like we're talking about voting on the West Bank. Are we actually to the point where conservatives are literally viewing their fellow Americans this way? This is disgusting and does not bode well for Georgia or conservatives.

It's abundantly clear that this has nothing to do with election "integrity" but making the process as difficult as possible in certain districts.

Yep. It's Jim Crow 5.0. A perennial favorite of the Dixie South.
