Strictly speaking its illegal here in FL. Not as bad as it used to be, but getting it even for cancer patients is tricky.

In a way the family I knew in my teens who's father had brain cancer may have had it easier with everything being completely illegal. Everyone knew the risk (doctors and patients) and developed safety systems to keep from getting caught. Having it just a little legal for cancer patients actually gives the police ann 'in' to ferret out growers and sellers that they didn't have before.

Agreed, but smoking pot and eating it, is two different highs.

 

My doctor could of just been blowing smoke, but he said it's a faulty stat, most people who smoke marijuana also smoke cigarettes, making it difficult to tell which one causes what. The number of those who only smoke pot, is to low for an accurate diagnosis.

However I would say most certainly cigarettes are worse. Marijuana is worse when it is grown with a bunch of man made chemicals, to enhance the THC. Natural marijuana was the prescribed drug for pain relief, it was used for child birth clear up to the turn of the century.

 

Cigarettes are for worse, consider the additives of ammonia, sugar, fiber glass filters, etc.

 

A sick society needs medicine and cannabis is the only substance that widely qualifies.

I consider even over-medication in recreational use to still qualify for that, but ignorance and misinformation may create other perceptions.

Oddly enough, because of the abridging of free speech, the total stoners cannot find the guidance to have them "using", instead of "abusing" the herb.

There have been 5000 years of use proving its wide benefits to human societies. It has only been 85 years where a conspiracy having government collusion has succeeded in changing peoples perceptions.

Yes, I quit smoking by switching to vaping. I mix my own liquid now too, and since pot is legal in my state, I may include THC.

 

Nothing will get you as high as smoking it. Eating it you need a lot of it, such as for cookies/brownies. Smoking it, just a few toaks will due.

even cigarettes were exaggerated, the testing was with two packs a day, basically in a smoke filled box all day

fact is, the longest living person was still a smoker.... maybe it's the stress relief of smoking, as stress kills too

course now that anti-smokers mandated carpet glue be added to all American cigarettes sold, I doubt smokers will live as long

I think this society needs a different kind of shot in the arm. (or perhaps a smack in the head)

Running away from reality might be comforting (even necessary on occasion), but it doesn't solve the very real problems that are making our society sick.

My wife uses pot edibles in low doses for pain relief. I use pot edibles for both pain relief and to get buzzed. I disagree with your argument that pot is not medicine. My doc would rather put me on a narcotic pain reliever which is far more dangerous when I can just use pot to great effect without all the associated risks of a pain killer like Norco. I think as time goes by and bias towards pot declines, that studies will better reveal the medical benefit of pot.

 

To be fair, those studies were also done when they used Asbestos filters. And oh yes, the carpet glue to ensure fire retardant cigarettes.

Nope, that was part of the regulation that was mandated in 2010. Cigarettes had to be made fire safe/retardant.

Nope the difference is in how long it takes to hit you. Thats why people mess up when ingesting it because they think their not getting off and eat too much.

I think it's irrelevant what folks who lived 200 years ago may have expected of us. I doubt they could even conceive of the challenges or opportunities we face. Our constitution is a living document, they did provide us with a process for changing it.
