Bad idea. The only way people will pay the same rate regardless is if you tax consumption.

<<<MOD EDIT: Insult removed>>> The deficit is ~$1.2 trillion (taking your word for this), but the actual spending is ~$3.8 TRILLION. Using your numbers is over 50% of the top 20%'s income. Never mind they pay in more than of the tax burden than they receive in income.

Most people paid taxes in those years too, not just 53% of Americans. People aren't so up tight about paying the government that has allowed them to be a success. People have a problem when 47% of Americans pay nothing in income taxes, and then say the rich (who pay more of a percentage of the tax burden than they receive in income) aren't paying their fair share. If we are going to go back to that time frame where the rich paid 90%, then the bottom will start needing to pay 41% to make it "normal".

Being mad at those that provide for you is something I never understood. It is like the kid that thinks his parents should raise his allowance just cause the kid got older when they kid is doing nothing new to earn the extra pay. You don't bite the hand that feeds you...literally.

Really? Can you not get better prostitutes in no other country? What makes America better for the rich than a place that has lower taxes and more corrupt government? Is it the TV programing? Is it the internet speed? Maybe that is why the super rich have homes all across the world and usually spend vacation outside the US.

People aren't paying what they should be paying, and yet it's "the law." Laws have to be made on a foundation of common sense and not followed because it's in a book.

A flat rate is merely the same as a progressive tax. All you're doing is increasing taxes on some and decreasing taxes on others. The problem with "fair share" is that someone else has to decide what is fair.

Consumption tax, on the other hand, is different. Everyone keeps 100 percent of what they earn and you tax consumption. What is the difference between a low income earner paying $300 for goods and the Top 1 percent paying $300 for goods? Nothing. You pay taxes when you enjoy your wealth, not when you save or invest your wealth. All the rates are completely the same regardless of who spends how much on what.

The middle class is with the TEA party. OWS is the poor and welfare class.

That is a progressive, not a conservative.

Only 4% of those that graduated college are unemployed. The military vets that are discharged under HONORABLE circumstance have help finding jobs. There are plenty of trade jobs out there. Those that are poor, have made poor choices in a high percentage of the time.

If the bottom paid 41%, they'd starve, and there no connection with the past (and therefore "normal") of the bottom paying 41%. When the rich paid 91% (1951-1963), the bottom paid 20%.

Actors aren't special. Anyone can do what they do. They're just people who lucked out, or had sex with someone in authority.

Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook CEO) - wages were $2 billion/year EVERY YEAR FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS. LOL.

Here's another. John Arnold. Hedge Fund Manager. Wages -$1.5 billion/year (displayed on front cover of PARADE magazine last year).

    Happy ?

If you say so although I will not disagree with you. Anyone can do what they do. Given the amount of low class crap that has released in the last few years, that is a apparent.

Give it up. They didn't move away when their taxes were in the 90%s - they won't now either.
