And a number of other POTUS's as well. Gerald Ford played golf, went skiing, and wined & dined in foreign capitals. One day somebody asked him a question in Paris, about a US political issue, and he forgot he was president of the US.
    Seriously. LOL.

No the opposite is actually the lie. Do you read Fortune at all?

Oh yeah, I forgot that magazine is only for people who want to make money.

A flat rate is not the same as a progressive tax. What school did you attend ?

The one which taught me basic math. The higher your income the more taxes you pay.

In what way is that not progressive?

It is a Conservative, and you do not know the meaning of either term.

You also are clueless about the unemployed situation.

Funny how the others here couldn't figure that out. Maybe they could, but they wouldn't.

They're enriching themselves. The workers are supplying the actual work.

So it's no different from a flat tax.

I'm sorry. I was under the assumption you wanted things to be "fair" for everyone.

I know writing any amount in on the tax returns is how you corporate style, accounting magicians do it, but my income is my income. I don't have 8 millions places to hide it or foreign entities to shelter it with.

You'll forgive me if I don't buy your line of insincere BS.

I'm serious. Write any amount you want to on your tax returns if you really want to pay higher taxes. Warren Buffet has the money, and he hasn't thought of this idea yet.

But hey, who are we kidding? Progressives aren't really interested in giving their "fair share." It's all, "Do as I say, not as I do."

I think it's a far better idea to take it from the criminal corporate mafia members who dub themselves "business" people.

"Writing in any amount" is something you're apparently far too comfortable with.
I think you should be selected for a random audit.

You're the one who wants to pay higher taxes. Not me. I also gave you a second option: Write a check to the IRS. I also warned you that it wasn't tax deductible.

Both options are actually perfectly legal since you can't actually get in trouble for writing a higher amount on your tax returns than you're actually making. But hey, we all know who really wants to pay their "fair share."

No, I just want folks to leave a slice of the pie for someone else, not take it all for their corporate greedy selves.

Nobody "takes" anything. People make their own wages. The Government leaves the whatever scraps whatever they decide to leave behind.

BS. Corporate pigs hoard the pie and accuse everyone else of begging for handouts.
Scraps are all the wealthy leave for everybody else to fight over. Hence, the protests.

Everyone else is begging for handouts. Haven't you read the occupiers demands?

Protest are led by people who have no basic understanding of economics nor do they have any clue initial cause of the problem. Almost surprised why you aren't there protesting with them.

Greed...corporate economics. All the same. Mafia style rape over the bulk of society for the benefit of the few.

It's about changing the the fact that so many people lost their homes, the Wall street bonuses continue to increase, CEO's make more and more by choking workers, and on and on. It's about (*)(*)(*)(*) time these protests started. I hope they swallow the corporate pigs...nationwide.

How do people make a lot of money? By finding out what people want and giving it to them. In other words, greed. Without it, you wouldn't be talking to me about how much initiative you lack to make your own life better.

    In essence, you are welcome.

Right. It is about time. Except they are mad at the wrong people and protesting in all the wrong places.

Well you can't blame people for being ignorant.

I think it's appropriate to be mad at the profit takers who continually defend the corrupted system of corporate rape.

Yeah, thanks for the successes of greed. I can feel it now....deep, deep inside.

Again with the notion that profits are taken. Profits are not taken out of anything. Profits are left behind if there are any profits at all.

I feel like a tutor or a school teacher.

    Good for you.

Couple of things are wrong with your demogaugary. 1) The poor won't starve, they still get food stamps or welfare and that doesn't get taxed. 2)You do realize that the poor live today with being taxed right. They get their 10-15% income tax taken from their paychecks (if they have a job) and don't see that money till the end of the year. So to keep saying they would starve is false and you should stop creating class warfare.

How about you look at those stats again. Here is full disclosure of the tax rates from day one. To be honest, if we are going to talk about "normal" as what has happened the most, then a 0% income tax would be "normal". 0% for everyone (when we were a libertarian country) 114 years.

Why are you even here if facts are meaningless and unnecessary? Don't waste anymore of my time. You are not interested in any intelligent discussion.

A host of things, but for starters it would greatly simply how revenue is collected. It would eliminate the need (and all the associated time and cost) for filing yearly taxes as individuals and business's currently are required to do. No more long forms, short forms, schedule XYZ's.

What does that mean to some poor working Schmoe who makes $30K - $40K per year, but who spends every penny he makes? And everytime he spends every penny, on anything, he gets socked with all the State and Local sales tax he already pays, PLUS Cain's NINE PERCENT FEDERAL SALES TAX?! "Math much"? Yeah, I can do the math, and this idiotic national sales tax idea could be the thing that gets Obama re-elected -- do you want THAT?

Cain's new European-style VAT (value-added tax) is the worst idea an American politican has had in decades! It is regressive beyond belief, and I still can't believe that anybody who pretends to be a Republican would even suggest such a stupid idea. The Left-wing hyperlibs are going to make a shooting gallery out of this thing, wait and see!
