The 9-9-9 plan leaves the current tax system in place, it just adds a 9% "sales" tax on top. It's a bad plan for that reason. A fair tax would eliminate the current system and replace it with a 18%-22% consumption tax.

That's a really dumb thing to say.

But it shows not only how brazen the Marxists have become but also how desperate they are to take other people's money and keep it for themselves.

Cut gov spending by 90%. Don't be scared people. You will still wake up in the morning. You have already survived being weaned from one tit, this one will be even easier.

I could go with a flat tax but not a consmption tax.
A consumption tax penalizes the poor and middle classes unfairly.
It also opens the door to a VAT, which is something no tax payer wants, once they understand it.

And finally, whoever heard of a tax that stayed at the original amount?
Once the tax is in, it is a simple matter to keep hiking it up.

And then what? What's after that?

I'm assuming that this is coming from someone who has never had any sort of incentive or initiative to earn something on their own...correct?

    That's incorrect. 9 - 9 - 9 throws out the current tax code.

Kind of like what the plutocrats do when they take other people's labor and don't compensate fully.

Sounds like the words of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Taliban, Al Qaeda, La Raza, and other assorted subversives. At least it's what they'd love to have (make America's government small, weak and defenseless).

No deal. OK you take your 99.9% tax then. Still leaves you with $2 Million. Not bad.

Flat tax can't work. If it's more than 10%, the working poor get a tax increase.
If it's less than 99%, the super rich are paying too little, and the people lose services.

Couldn't be farther from the truth. And what does that have to do with restoring normal taxation ?

    1. Welfare varies from state to state (and even city to city). Here in Tampa , Florida "the poor" get food stamps but it's only $200/month. They get NOTHING else unless they have dependent children.

    2. I can't be "creating" class warfare" since that is a creation of the rich who have been waging it agqainst the poor and the working class for thousands of years.

    3. You're giving the same argument I've hears a zillion times before. Fallacy of it is before World War I, America was too different to be able to compare much of anything economically. There were no cars, TV, radio, computers, hell they barely had electric lights and indoor plumbing. You almost might as well be talking about a frontier Indian village. The 0% years were not "We" - they were of people not at all like us now. Hence, measurement starts with 1917.

I didn't say "facts" are unecessary. I said YOUR facts were unecessary, relative to what was being discussed.

A progressive tax is like what we have now where the % go up as the income goes up, resulting in tax brackets. Thats the opposite of a flat tax, which is one % for everyone regardless of income. Flat tax is unfair no matter how you present it.
    see post # 213.

A progressive tax is not like what we have now. It is what we have now.

Flat tax is no different, especially when you add deductions, exemptions and a marginal flat tax.

    Look it up.

Nice try. It's not progressive because the % paid doesn't go up as the income goes up (and it's not "basic math"). It's a ridiculous idea, for one simple reason explained in Post 213.

Obviously you don't know much about a flat tax then.

It's funny how people actually don't take into consideration that people won't work if tax rates are too high.

Unless of course you expect the gov to FORCE them to work, lol.
