    Should he have opposed the Iraq war? Does his embezzlement conviction tarnish his reputation? Should he have gotten jail time?

    Chirac was quite liked for two reasons :
    _ He was globally more charismatic and likeable than most of our leaders.
    _ He didn't participated to the Iraq war.

    Most of people I talked with were basically saying "I didn't liked him because of his corruption, but I would be thankfull to not being involved in that war".
