The fact that they were sold by blacks does not negate the fact that whites bought and bred them no matter how much you want it to.

Yes, they are the (numerous) exceptions that confirm the (still) general rule.

I for one consider that a lot of progress has been made over the last 50 years in terms of equal opportunity, but there's still a long way to go.

But, rather often, black people don't adopt the optimal attitude, for their own good.

I once had a long argument with a black taxi driver over the habit of them calling themselves african-americans: using that word, they seem to be accepting to be (and to remain) in a different category. Whites don't call themselves european-americans and those people of asian descent do not insist on being called asian-americans. Just saying...

I realize that the B word is often regarded as deprecating, as it's wrongfully thought to be another way of using the N word. But being too touchy about the use of some words often leads to a reverse effect.

 

It is particularly the fault of some white people. Unfortunately you need a time machine to make them be held responsible. I had nothing to do with it. I am going to look at this how the Germans look at the holocaust, I acknowledge bad things happened, but it was not me doing that so I am just going to move ahead with my life.

She's not whitesplaining to Black people, she is speaking to white people who don't want to reckon with America's problems.........racism is still a problem....

 

People that concentrate on positive things like excellence at work or school, engage in fun stuff like sports or family activities... upbeat folks that speak well of themselves, their family, and their jobs... generally do much better in life than people who whine and complain and focus on being victims.
