Even as US allies fall victim to Trump's insane trade war the deficit is still rising. Japan's surplus with the US rose 18% from a year earlier despite a fall in Japanese exports. That means Japan is buying less US goods.
US exports are falling faster than US imports as brand America is trashed by Donald Trump and foreigners are reducing their buying of US goods as foreign resentment of Donald Trump builds.
Trump has built a trade wall between the US and it's allies.

Why do you think Japan's import trend with the US is Trump's fault?

Couldn't it be signaling Japan switching to buying more higher end products from China?

Or maybe the reduction in the Japanese demographic is gradually reducing consumption of foreign goods? Those old people that were fans of American goods are dying off in Japan. The modern Japanese generation is turning more to China.

And we all know there are fewer Japanese people in Japan. Big problem with women not having families.

I'm just saying, there are numerous alternate explanations.

If it's really a war, then that implies that different countries all believe there is a reason to want to encourage exports but discourage imports.

That fact in itself is kind of a thorn in the side of Free Trade ideology.
(i.e. If free trade really unquestionably benefited both sides, then there'd never be any reason for trade wars)

It's funny we've had to militarily occupy so many US allies for 70 yrs. ain't it? :roflol: Japan had no complaints when we raised from the ashes did they? In 50-60 yrs. maybe another Obama will come along and apologize for putting America 1st.
