Is this more evidence of global warming? Is this just a fluke? Will it cause many more deaths?

On it's own,no.But considering the other heatwaves in the northern hemisphere a strong possibility.

It shows that climate changes. Just like always has. How much is because of the influence of man is the question. The standard definition of climate is the average weather for the last 30 years. Not really much to go on considering how old the earth is. Even using 100 years of data is truly insignificant when comparing to the age of the earth.

I have a hard time believing all the doom and gloom predictions. When the same computer models they are using to predict 20, 30 or more years out, are the same ones they use to predict a week out and they are not that great.

Heat waves killing people in Japan isn't anything new. We're also seeing this in parts of Canada at the moment. It's a combination of heat and humidity.

Even during the Edo period in Japan people languished during the month of July. The large homes in the cities were ingeniously designed to allow circulation of air before the advent of air conditioning. People would often retreat up into the mountains, and economic activity would slow for a while.

Slowly it's getting worse. Nothing we can do about it now, too far gone. It's like taking a gulp of water and realising you just took poison, no going back.

How long the island of Japan has existed and how long temperature records have been kept would be pertinent to factor in here.
