USPS doesn't get to keep its all of its revenue. Congress constantly raids that revenue to spend on other things. People don't understand that increases in postal rates are a form of tax increase. Amazon would be in the tank if it were run by government.

Bezos will be the world's first trillionaire, and people are taking a five-minute break from ordering tons of crap on Amazon to voice their disgust.

    There's a better thread title.

I'd always heard that Putin was Spymaster, almost as if Bond had become Prime Minister. ( and Ryan became President, didn't he?)

It's not exactly unheard of in truth as well as fiction. Bush the Elder ran the CIA and Yuri Andropov the KGB before they became Heads of State.

This gives reason to why anyone with a lick of sense will give up using anything Amazon-related. If you can find a product on Amazon, its most likely able to be bought at a mom and pop store, or direct from the manufacturer. Bezos has cost hundreds of thousands of jobs and has sowed panic in the retail sector, and yet people rather turn a blind eye and continue using his empire? Give your hard, cold cash to the businesses that need it and far from where Amazon can make any profit off of it.

He owns some retail giant. The Jews own the finance and media industries. Big difference.

It is the internet in general that has done that. We knew that would happen 20 years ago. It has just taken longer than expected.

My Dad landed in a VA Home just before this Kung Flu kicked off, and they are on lockdown. I used Amazon to get him some clothes and batteries w/charger, a TV, and some grooming items. I used it and it was WONDERFUL. All his items got to him in a couple days time.

And I'm extra happy that this pisses you off.

The man earned it by pushing into a new field early on. When they just sold books I thought it would fail as people would prefer to touch and see books before buying them. I was wrong.

Which is why I'm not closing in on a trillion dollars :)

He's gotta pay for all those iguana sandwiches somehow - I don't think he was eligible for the free money.

Well, not directly anyway - I'm sure he raked in billions indirectly.

Iquana? You mean he really does chow down on a Komodo dragon, just because he can?
Though in his case that would be like lunch at MacDonald's

Any government lets you do whatever it is you do, that's how governments work in reality.

113 Billion is a long way from a Trillion - but if ever Bezo's makes it - he will not be the first - at least not in any realistic sense.
There are many families who's net worth exceeds 1 Trillion.

Really? Can you refer me to some? I can think of the Rothschilds and the Astor-Morgans, but I'd always heard their wealth was actually much less than it had been.

Mind, I'm not disputing but would just like to research the subject a little. Thanks.

Why do you care how much someone else makes? Who do you think you are telling people where they can shop?

It is a club - of old money families - same names on many banks - I call it the Rothschild - Rockefeller Consortia - but this is just a general label .. but the names are not my central point at this time.

What I will refer you to - is the amount of money that we are talking about. Wiki 2 banks 1) State Street 2) Mellon - both are from the 1700s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Street_Corporation

Each has roughly 2.5 Trillion under management = 5 Trillion - You will find these names as major shareholders in near all of the Fortune 100.

For comparison the largest hedge funds #1 -
    https://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/011515/worlds-top-10-hedge-fund-firms.asp

So 5 Trillion is a Ton of Money - Roughly 50 Jeff Bezos .. how this money is dispersed among these families - who knows.

But Hold on --- the story is not finished .. as you read further - you notice - "State Street is ranked 15th on the list of largest banks in the United States by assets. It is one of the largest asset management companies in the world with US$2.511 trillion under management and US$31.62 trillion under custody and administration. It is the second largest custodian bank in the world.[4]"

You will find the same over at Mellon - oddly enough .. roughly the same amounts. so call it 63 Trillion - sitting in "custody and administration"

Whose money is this ??? -- That is what I am talking about. Even if there was 21 Families - this is still freaken 3 Trillion per family just "in custody and management" .

So - taking that 3 Trillion - and dividing among "The family" -- not going hog wild - say 10% of a Jeff Bezos .. 10 Billion dollars net worth individuals - an unfathamable sum to regular Joe. .. well .. you could have 300 of them - just in that family.

Enquiring minds - want to know ! ... who's freaken money is this ?

The thing about amazon that really disgusts me is their invasion of the internet.
Go to a page reviewing, say a toaster, and every single site has a "Check the price on amazon "or "Buy now on amazon"
I know my refusal to stay on that site, or buy anything from amazon is a drop in the ocean, but if we all shopped at the few remaining retail stores that amazon has not destroyed, or bought goods online from the retailer, manufacturer or importer, we may be able to stop the amazon takeover of the world.
The one bit of good news is that the fight has already begun.

    Why are people "disgusted" ?
Bezos didn't steal this money, he was rewarded for services he offered.
Bezos doesn't "own" this money - its money which flow through the economy.
Bezos would have about a quarter the wealth of Rockefeller.

If Bezos offered up his 130 billion to Americans by selling his business to China -
that would be about $400 per American? And then Amazon and its employees
would be gone, so too would the capital to invest and grow - and so too the
dominance of other people over America.

Thank you, that is most interesting. I have done some research on John Jacob Astor and became fascinated by the history of wealthy families in the world. (Also by reading the anime Blood +. It was a good anime though I am still not sure it was not a Nazi screed)

One small detail. Having money under your management is not quite the same as owning the money yourself. You can't go and buy palaces for your private use with money that is just under your care, (though I think some banks have, there was this one guy who said that he collected mansions as a hobby and he was using a REIT to do so)
