In an interview Mr Corbyn was reported as saying 'Yes indeedy-doody, I'm going to destroy the Labour party if it's the last thing I do.' [IMG]

Looks like he wants his '15 minutes of fame' to last forever? Honestly you couldn't make up this crap.

I find all politicians as pointless and worthless as each other so i'm not a Corbyn fan. He does however seem to reflect the core labour voter more than the previous labour leaders.
We've had a series of labour leaders who are like " tory light".

I've always wondered, "who created who?". Did generations of cheap and nasty politicians create the disinterested population we have today or did generations of a disinterested population create the cheap and nasty politicians we have today.

Funny isn't it, we say we live in a democracy yet "none of the above" isn't a voting option.

Thatcher like her American counterparts did not believe in democracy. Starting from her we see our governments answering to Capitalism and corporate power rather than serve the people as a democracy ought to. As well as this with the destruction of Unions most of the working class were no longer able to get either the political education or the support they used to provide. Under Blair Labour completed the job of handing Britain's Democracy over to neo liberalism and corporate power. We became a Plutocracy. In order to get votes focus groups were brought in in areas with key seats. They would get people's ideas on 'extras'. for instance 'gay marriage' and these would be the things which they fought elections on. Younger people easily saw that they were not able to change anything and a lot chose not to vote - making the situation worse for them - pensioners would be better looked after for instance as their vote could be relied on.

We have now come to the point where we are democracies in name only and have lost all the basic ideals of democracy - equality of opportunity, social mobility and having a voice in how our country is run. Labour had given up on its values so had nothing to offer. Instead of having any values or ideals, Labour worked at changing itself to fit in with who it believed it could get to vote for it. Obviously with lowering living standards and less rights people become upset. Enter as always the far right. The problem is the other.

At the same time many of the young have become more interested in bringing back democracy and social values to the country - protecting for instance human rights and having a social conscience - something the right want to get rid of. Occupy could be said to be of this nature and in the UK certainly at the beginning, Momentum. This is how Corbyn got in. He may not be the best political leadership material but his heart does seem to be in the right place. We currently are ruled by the wealthiest. This is going to cause big problems to the standard of living of the majority of people. Their only interest is making money. If we do not change this we, like the US will almost certainly dissolve into fascism or as more and more political thinkers are suggesting, despotism.

So one of the ways out of this is to try and get capital back into this country and as much as possible into the hands of the people who will have more interest in making sure it is used well. The main idea I have heard concerning this is workers co-ops which is interesting as that was what people were talking about before Thatcher took over. I haven't found details of this but I heard on a video yesterday that Corbyn's team, guess it will be MacDonald is intending on offering this to effect a change. When a company wants to sell itself, it must give first option to buy to its own workers. How will they pay for it? The government will give loans. We need changes in the way capitalism and economics are working to make them for the people. If not the future looks bleak for our children and grandchildren.
